This is so funny - I posted this exact deal a few days ago and only got voted cold. Speed forward a few days and it's getting voted hot (rightly so).

Man, this site is dumb sometimes.

You need to add delivery to your price or state collect in store.

Have some heat.

Why would you buy this when the new generation gpus are coming in two …Why would you buy this when the new generation gpus are coming in two months....

Because you need a GPU right now, not in two month???

In two months time ppl will say 'don't buy these wait for the none reference cooler' then when they come out ppl will say 'wait for the ti' blah blah blah

Good price, but may as well wait for the price drop when the new GPU's come out.
No sense in buying now unless you need this ASAP.

Check out my ti deal at over -250!
FYI deal you posted I actually bought via amazon last week. Thanks!
I know the new ‘1180’ (non-ti) when it arrives will have similar power to this ti but it it likely to do it with less power and therefore be quieter?
I voted this cold, as it was voted cold a few days ago.

It's not two month, the announcement is expected next month.

You can spend £650 now and then another £650 in a couple of months as well! The next generation isn't just more fps at higher res, it has new technology like ray tracing and VR which the 10 series doesn't have.

In other words it's a leap forward which is worth waiting for.

It's worth waiting for if you're into all of that VR nonsense however most people aren't.
I got this card last November on the Amazon deal and absolutely love it. I'm pushing 4k60 on many games, but the true sweetspot for it would be a high refresh 1440p monitor.

Voted hot.

And virtually no game will use it because the majority of cards out there won't support it. It will become just another TressFX or Hairworks.

No, Ray Tracing isn't hair works, it's a legit lighting technique that games makers have been dying for.

tomshardware.com/rev…tml

Look, I get it, you were all about the 'VR sucks' and you don't want any reason to like the new tech, I don't know why, but that's what it appears.

There are positives to this next generation, it will be good, I don't know if you have some motivation to want to halt the wheels of graphical progress, or why you seem to have disdain for ray tracing without understanding it, but it should be really good.

This isn't GameWorks or some NVIDIA exclusive, this is huge.

DirectX announced ray tracing, I'm sure AMD is planning on doing it as well. Either way, real time ray tracing will be great.

It's not going to be huge for as long as only one generation of GPU's supports it. There's little point for a publisher to invest in it if only <5% of the customer base is going to see it.

It might be big in a few years from now but it shouldn't be a reason to spend ~£200 more atm IMHO.

You're right on one thing though. I don't see the point in VR at all.

Either way we will find out soon enough, on paper sounds good. Been here too many times where the next gen card promises a cool new that should be good. Sometimes it is, but sometimes it isn't.

The 1080ti is a very good card and even if the 1180ti came out tomorrow, it will be several months before we see anything that shows its better.
Also will be see a 1180ti right away?

Doubtful. They'll milk the 1180 for all its worth and then probably come out with the Ti after Christmas.

Who is talking about spending ~£200 'more' here? The 1180 is likely to be priced competitively with the 1080ti, as was the case in the last 2 generations.

If you are in the market for a card for the future, why would you be so against something as potentially awesome as Ray Tracing?

In fact, it sounds like exactly the type of technology you will be kicking yourself over for ignoring.

I don't early adopt any new technologies anymore. So far I've skipped 3D, VR, HDR and 4K and, with the minor exception of 4K on occasion, I honestly can't say that I feel poorer for lacking any one of them.

And yes I have seen all four in action at friend's houses, events, work etc.

Also, considering the price mark ups on Pascal at launch, I think you might be slightly over-optimistic on this one particularly if the new cards have something to offer to the hardcore crowd.

This isn't similar to any of those technologies. This is like Anti Aliasing or Super Sampling. 3d, VR, HDR, and 4k are much more gimmicky and requires investments, where Ray Tracing can just be done with almost no overhead. If you read my articles, you'd see that Ray Tracing *greatly simplifies* lightning and shadows from a developer perspective. You don't have to 'adopt' anything here, it will be done, en masse, because it's cheaper, better, faster.

Anyway, pascal cost at launch, great perfect example.

Thanks for proving my point.

GeForce GTX 1080 May 27, 2016 $549

extremetech.com/gam…nch

You can see, before the May 27th launch, the price of the 980ti was still at $660!

camelcamelcamel.com/MSI…FXI

The 1080 came out at $110 cheaper, and caused an immediate price crash on the inferior 980 ti, which is great for comparison here.

So, do you see it? The price dip to $449.99 right *after* the launch?

Are you going to admit that you were wrong about the prices at launch? Or is it pointless to provide this in depth details with sources?

Wouldn’t even be surprised. The current lineup takes on AMDs best and beats it comprehensively.
the deal is still live, for some reason its been flagged up and expired, also saying scan is banned!
