Still a grand 😳

I know, I was surprised how cheap it is for the spec

Is it worth paying £700 more for a 1070 on the gs56 ?

Er.... no
Can I get better with the £1k price mark? Surely there are better. I send a nude pic to someone who can find a better gaming laptop under or a little over £1k

It also has the hex core cpu, but would there be a major difference …It also has the hex core cpu, but would there be a major difference between the 1060 and 1070?

Yes your wallet would be thinner

I've got the 980m 4k SC17. Use it for video editing.

Build quality is superb.

The 1060 is about 15-20% slower than the 1070, not really worth the extra.

Haha yes, that too
Great spec for the cash.
This looks rather nice indeed. My only concerns would be the quality of the screen and the ease of upgrading in future.

Isn't the 1070 40%+ faster?
Heated, but...

...Dell certified refurb is same price / cheaper for the same spec (from memory).

Evidence?
This is an excellent deal. Has 6GB gpu + gsync, which I challenge you to find elsewhere cheaper than this. Plus you have 256SSD. More than enough to store GDrive root folder and the OS onto. 16GB DDR4 RAM with 7700HQ i7 - very sexy for this money. To top it all off, this is an EVGA laptop, which is a reputable brand. This would be perfect for a student.

Apologies it's slightly less in lapopts. More about 25-37% and the difference gets bigger at higher resolution

Have to scroll down quite a bit to get to the game benchmarks
Had no idea EVGA did laptops, news to me! Looks like a nice one too.
That's actually a very good price for the spec.

Yeah, you'll get 1060 laptops cheaper but not with an i7, a 256gb SSD and 16 gb ram.

This best laptop for a grand?

Take that £700, buy a second laptop with a 1060 and just run them in SLI

Good price, I paid £1350 back in October for an MSI laptop, pretty much the exact same spec
And this EVGA one is much sleeker looking, with less OMG RGB lights and bits of red all over the place

When the new cards come out there will probably be sales on these older models though, so if you can wait a couple months might pick up a bargain
Anyone got some 13" screen recommendations with half decent specs? Looking to upgrade my late 13 mbpr but can't find a suitable replacement.
IPS or TN screen?

Matebook x pro, x1 carbon are good.

IPS or TN screen?

15.6" (1920x1080, 120Hz IPS, Nvidia G-Sync)
Is this the best option in the price range?

Amazing for the price imo, just a shame they went overboard on the matte effect on the screen.
Would this be any good for daily use of auto cad? Thanks!

1060 = ~980

All things considered this is without doubt the best sub £1000 laptop on the market at the moment.

If you have a grand and are looking for a gaming laptop, this is the one for you.
Those hinges don't look like they'll last too long

Unlikely mate this monster can compete with gaming PC's, it has a much better graphics card than my 960 and i bought that laptop for 700
