Such a good price. Postage charges apply of £10 but still super cheap. For me I drive home so it's a 15 minutes detour for me so worth looking it up if you live near stoke as might be cheaper to drive than pay postage.

If you're using more than 1 GPU and a high end mobo and CPU etc (mainly gpu) then possibly. A friend of mine runs a 1200 with 2 980 but I run at 850w but on a single gpu. For this price though it's worth getting since most 850 will be around this price as well.

Yes, I have the 850w of this one and it's great! Quiet and does the job.

Its a great deal but 1000W!
I have EVGA SuperNova P2 650 W version and the fan never spins, I don't get anywhere near to the threshold on Skylake, totally silent :-)

But if I needed PSU I would go for this, mine EVGA is a really nice bit of kit,

It also gives room for upgrading. If you ever wanted to upgrade then you wouldn't need to think "Will I need a new PSU"

Other than the dodgy ATX ribbon and very minor voltage stability (nothing to be concerned about) this is a very nice PSU and at a great price.

The 1050 doesn't even have a power connector as it runs off the PCI power.

I guess if you wanted 2 of the 1080 bad-boys then 1000W but then I guess you would be kinda rich enough to for a super silent PSU.

This one doesn't seem to have a eco mode button which means the fan will always be spinning which is not great for me anyway as I like silence.

I just picked up the Seasonic X750 750W fully modular for 79 on amazon (89 minus 10 code for amazon students - APPRENTICE10)
have yet to install it

if I hadn't bought that, I would have been seriously considering this one

both tier 1 PSUs (presumably with G1 - G2 and G3 are both on any tier 1 list), both top quality and very stable

I don't think I'll ever run 4+ GPUs so 750W should do me fine

According to one of those online wattage calculators a system with the following specs would consume 780w:

6800k overclocked to 4.5GHz @ 1.3v
64GB of RAM
2x GTX 1080's overclocked to 2GHz
an m.2 SSD
3 sata SSD's
2x 7200rpm drives
4 140mm fans
and a Kraken x61

You'd really have to take it to a serious extreme to need anything over an 850w.
Saying that a higher wattage psu should run cooler/quieter due to not being stressed as much.

It's an amazing PSU, a truly lovely piece of electrical engineering, but utterly pointless for the vast, vast majority of people. That, however, doesn't stop this being a good deal for the few people who need such a monster of a power supply.

1000W? I'm gonna use this to boil water.

If you don't need the wattage go for the P2 models. I have used a few in builds now and they are top drawer. My go to high end PSU.

Yes, this is FSP whereas the G2 (and P2 etc.) is SuperFlower. GS (and presumably PS) is Seasonic. This is meant to be based on FSP's best platform but I would still be happier with SuperFlower or Seasonic.
Of course this a lot cheaper as the 1000W P2 is about £200 and even the 850W P2 is about £140.
Still, unless I knew I was going to run such a high load (maybe mining with 3-5 cards), I'd rather have the 850W P2 than this.

In short just buy what you need with the best efficiency rating you can afford (silver, gold, platinum etc) with a decent safety factor margin.

A couple of percentage points efficiency is really not significant enough for people to keep saying 50 percent load of an overkill PSU is worth it, when it just ain't.

The 80 Plus Gold rating requires a PSU to be 87%-90%-87% efficient at 20%-50%-100% load... you are right that the best efficiency is at 50% load, but the real difference is negligible in the scheme of things.

I agree with above that it is better to by a PSU suited to your power needs, and not an expensive overpowered PSU so you can run at the optimum 50% load and thus gain 3% efficiency.

Both fair point sin this case. Though my analogy was still on the money.
Also the principle does extend to Bronze and Silver PSUs

Also this is EVGA so not really a concern. However lesser brands may get a Bronze\Silver\Gold\Platinum rating for efficiency. They may not actually have a stable load at the extremes, so it is always worth considering head room. I need 300-350W but run a 650W PSU.

I have one, it blew up but still worked and I never was eligible for replacement from EVGA. Second time it blew up several months later and totally went dead. It costs to ship it to Germany for a repair. Went and got a cheap beQuiet model which has been fine unlike the EVGA.
