"professionally plain boxed" ? :}

Well you aren't going to get a flair boxer like Muhammad Ali for this price are you?
Watch out!!
These Units are ( Cabinet Display ) Ex Demo units from a major retailer and in immaculate ( A+ Grade ) condition with no signs of use but may have a VERY minor buff or scuff on the casing due to handling. The unit will be supplied in its original retail packaging or will have been professionally plain boxed. The units carry  a 3 Months Warranty for Peace of Mind.

to be honest I am not surprised. The state of some "boxes" that get used on some refurbished stuff is laughable.
Bought this for £479 a couple of weeks ago and it's been great, no problems so far! The Optane really does make a difference to hard drive speed, my old laptop was agonisingly slow despite having a good processor (i7-2670qm).
Fast cpu makes this a good laptop... if I needed a new laptop. Warranty is mean but I guess long enough to cover any major initial issues. Cheap Acer's have carp build quality... but that cpu is tempting me. Even provides service hatch for that SSD... if needed...

The 8th gen cpu and 4gb vram makes this a very capable gaming laptop on medium settings with high res textures for most games. Heat.
Can it edit 4k footage ?
Svp sre lying thou. But most retailers do this original price is the price that is sold for a brand new and as this is ex display I feel should be a lot cheaper than what it is

I don’t think you’re going to find a proper gaming-class laptop with 8th gen CPU for under £500 anywhere else, so the price seems fair to me.

Should be good enough, you'd have to pay around £300 more for a better CPU than this (i7-8750h)

I don't disagree with you but it's a shame that it doesn't come with a warranty as such

In alllllll this, people also forget, the OP has pretty much stated their Deal as if it were new right?. :-(

And not rather stated it as ex-display (or whatever?), instead?. :-(

As (for me anyway), there's a massive difference between any second hand/refurbished/ex-display 'anything', than that of it's actually new counterpart instead, etc ...
I've just taken a chance on it. Thanks OP.

I think memory is usually the issue for video editing - so not sure if 8gb will be enough. I video edit on desktops with lots of RAM.

All you needed was ccleaner. Clean it then fix registry with it and it works as new. I’ve been doing that to my i7 2600 for 7 years.

I used CCleaner but not the registry tool on it. There were other things going wrong with it anyway, such as the hdmi and usb ports, headphone jack, wouldn't upgrade to windows 10 and GPU was pretty awful by today's standards!
same as last time posted as new when its not

Ok, it was the registry fix that sorted mine. Give it a try before binning it

Yeah I'll try that thanks, I planned on keeping it as a backup anyway in case anything goes wrong with the Acer.

My last one was a dell xps lasted 2 years . This acer near 8 years now and runs better than the dell. They are like tanks

Any way to find how the games will run on this laptop? Any benchmark or something like that. Thanks.

That depends. Are we talking Red 4k, or nice friendly low bandwidth proxy 4k files (DNxHR LB for example).

With the proxy files, you'd be able to play a couple of streams at the same time. I think the hard drive would be the limiting factor. A 1TB SSD for £90 would fix that though. Also, with longer sequences, 8GB ram would start to become a problem.
Is the CPU thermal/power limit throttled like the ASUS FX504?
out of stock
Ex-demo means they where in the shelf running all day like in Curry's etc? If so, the life of these laptops will be shorter than normal

Scroll down on this page to see game benchmarks. Gives you an idea on what the GTX 1050 can handle:

Can ssd be added?
Would this be able to run SOLIDWORKS well?
Any similarly priced non-ACER alternative to this in the market?
This laptop provides such a laptop for the money but I have heard the battery life is awful.

I myself am looking for a slim line gaming laptop that can play most things (on medium or something not to fussed on top of the range graphics) as I want portability and good battery life. Willing to pay £1500

Batterys on pretty much all gaming laptops are awful unless you go for a £2000+ surface book with the 1060 (rumoured to be replaced later this year)

Yea I sadly thought that ! thanks !
It arrived yesterday. Not a mark on it. Took out the h/d and chucked a sdd In had hanging around. Installed windows and I am now very happy with it. It came with original box.

I received an email this morning saying now it's back in stock.
@cheesebuster1 you can activate the deal again
For people who are on the edge or apprehensive. Snapped this up at £485 delivered, put 16GB of ram in it and I can tell you it is quite the performer.

The i5 8300 performs similar to the 7th Gen i7 and the 1050 is 4GB of memory as opposed to 2GB so it will hold better in games.

Well worth the £500 mark!

Oh - and replace the hard drive with a SSD, superb boot up times and faster loading screens if you get the chance. It comes with a 16GB Optane that will improve performance but the SSD really helps
