Having found my old iRig guitar interface device in the cupboard, I was looking for an app to make use of it with my phone and guitar

The app allows you to search any song and then replicate the sound the guitarist used

I had a great evening looking up my favourite songs, selecting the pedal and then jamming away trying to sound as good as the original.

The app is hosted by Ultimate Guitar which try and fleece you for as much money as possible to use their app, but the Tonebridge app is all free and is an amazing resource.

If you have a fancy enough guitar interface plug in, (I have the iRig2 which is quite a few years old now) you can actually output to your guitar amp and jam along out loud. I have only tried using headphones so far but the effect is great. I was looking into buying a load of pedals to try out but it looks like I can do all my testing on this app before I go out and buy some proper ones, hopefully saving myself a fortune

I have a 4 year old Redmi Note 4 and an old epiphone Les Paul and iRig2 device and all went together beautifully.

The iRig 2 is a good start if you want to play through your phone to an amp - £30 at present

Snap!! Just found the old iRig while having a sort out yesterday.
A quick look at the app and it looks useful.
Thanks for the post and heat added 🏻
Bias FX is also 'free' to an extent.
Got excited there for a minute ....when I saw 'free guitar pedal '
Do you guys get much lag using the iRig or any other interface?

I noticed a bit of lag to begin with but after I had been trying new pedals for 10 minutes, it seemed negligible
I bought an iRig last year or so, find the noise and feedback plugging into an amp just unusable, am I doing something wrong ?

oh that is disappointing to hear, I have not tried it on my amp but will do tonight and report back

on my headphones it sounds great

It was too late to fire up with the amp by the time i got to play tonight but again i didn't experience any lag after a few minutes playing.

Best tip for a beginner is to search for the Beatles and then work your way through their various mastery of different guitar sounds. That's all i did this evening.
No idea what the app does. But heat added for the very useful OP description. Very helpful
Heat added and thanks!
(Although can I use this without an iRig?)

you dont necessarily need an irig but i think you will need some sort of interface device to plug your guitar into to then go in to your phone / tablet. I think the 1st gen irig can be picked up for about £8 online

Does that have more of a lag than the iRig 2, do you know?
I have this app on my iPad.

It’s not very good.

I'm afraid i have only used the irig 2. It lags when you first start but after you've been playing a few minutes it goes away so I'm sure it'd be ok on whichever device?
pmtonline.co.uk/blo…ns/. Just spent the last hour googling guitar interfaces and found this really useful comparison of devices...
Just wondering what’s the best way to learn after my sister threw out her Yamaha Pacifica I salvaged from the bin.

Best way i found was searching for the chords to songs i like and then just working it out from there. I can still remember the thrill of hitting the first chord and thinking "wow, that sounds just like wonderwall" and then i was away
Thanks will look it up!
