In most cases, yes. If you have a really beefy PC and don’t care about the option to play wireless, then the Rift S is better
Does it come with a sick bag?

I've got both. The quest is great but front heavy so does get a bit uncomfortable. However the rift S is much more comfortable but the cable is annoying as hell. Far worse than the original rift as it has a slightly rubberised finish, so it grabs at anything it touches. It's an immersion breaker for me. The quest does have pc connect IF you can find a cable. I haven't found one anywhere yet.
Bargain price!

This is much better than the original CV1 & one of the best value headsets in terms of price for performance.

Resolution bump is nice & the screen door effect/visible pixels is greatly reduced. Sensors in headset is also a big plus.

Cheers for that. Ordered one now. Been dying to try out Oculus Link.

The Rift S has 5 times the bandwidth of the Quest, and no amount of Hype from Oculus or Carmack about hacker wizzkid compression routines or magic link cables will alter that hardware fact, the Quest will play PCVR but the top teir and best of the best for PCVR is a dedicated PC HMD. lol

Thanks bought, ready for Half-Life Alyx. Awesome cheap price.
I have the Rift, Rift-S and Quest (i'm a developer.) Oculus link with the Quest is a lot better than I thought it would be to be honest. The latency is almost unnoticeable and certainly good enough to not make you feel sick.
I do use my Rift to develop with as I find the tracking to be more stable with the sensors, especially in low light and as mentioned above, the Rift and Rift-S are weighted better. I also much prefer the V1 touch controllers (controversial I know) because the V2 ones are too symmetrical and when you're picking up and putting them down for 8 hours a day it gets super annoying!
In my opinion, if you are a casual gamer that is going to play a couple of hours here and there you'd be much better off with a Quest and the official Link cable when it's released.
My daughter wants this but I'm not sure it would work on her ancient PC. I5 760 @4 Ghz, EVGA GeForce GTX 780 SC, 8GB ram. Only game she ever plays is Minecraft.

You should definitely get the Quest. It's a brilliant VR headset and has a lot of great games running as a mobile device. If you plug it into your daughters PC and it works....bonus!
I went for a Quest despite having a GTX 1080 based PC.

It's an approximation of the best of both worlds.

The best wireless VR for £400 and a close enough proximity to the best of PCVR.

John Carmack is working on increasing the bandwidth of Link to use the full USB 3.1 capacity.

Also Quest will get hand tracking.

It feels like Oculus are putting all their efforts and future developments into Quest.
I just got the Rift S. I mostly use Steam VR so the Quest never really interested me as I'd very rarely feel the need to use wireless.

I am happy with it and will keep it I reckon. I returned the PSVR due to poor game graphics limited by the PS4 and poor screen resolution. I also returned the OG Rift due to poor screen door effect and God Rays.

The S seems to have improved nicely on screen door effect due to uprated resolution and God Rays with the new screen. Not perfect but now enjoyable.

Can't wait to see a true Rift 2. Hopefully wider FOV and boost in Res.

Would be nice if they had full body tracking accessories like the Vive too. 👌

The official cable hasn’t even been released yet

Valid comment... for 2015

Yeah VR has moved on a great deal and motion sickness is much less of an issue for most.

But some third party cables work apparently.
