Lol the post the OP has put up is real audio. It's not in the same league as Sony and LG lol. I've heard a £2000 amp that had "just" 50watts and it was incredible. And extremely loud. Most of these other brands like LG and Samsung only make systems to complete their line up. Power rating is like 10% of what to Consider.

Cos louder is better?

1 week verdict: Very very good. I’m just transitioning from tv speakers but the difference is night and day. I added a chromecast audio with a Fiio d03k DAC and music is awesome. Movies sound 10 times better too

I think we need LOUGHBORO.GUY to recall to his most famous post of all UKHD history 😁

The Matsui comment I could accept as a joke (and I did) but you would perhaps be surprised at exactly how many people do indeed think that Hi-Fi begins and ends with the likes of Sony or Panasonic. I've read most of the Hi-Fi threads on here and can't recall Sony as a long-running joke (skeptical)

Open box of 3020's for 100GBP sounds good, then its less of a hit when paying for the amp

Open box of 3020's for 100GBP VS new 3020i for~249 ????? Also should i take them with Marantaz CR-611 (Network/Spotify etc)? Thanks

Maybe you have, but it won’t have been for the same money or less.

Our onkyo can do this. Just press music button and choose direct. Or pure audio and it turns all the v part of the av system off.

When placing near a wall make sure the port bungs are fitted as bass may become slightly more overwhelming. Best to experiment. The comment "Decent speakers, Definitely had better" stands good however only on speakers costing considerably more.

Yeh, see that says 2 years added cover, not 5. The headphones are classed as technology so you get 2 years, that's all that's meant when it says up to 5 years. If you click the 'more about added care' it explains this..

Tried to price match with JL but Weybridge Audio OOS so not possible. Ordered from Exceptional AV instead as same price Thanks OP!

It was £30 my mistake but yes it extends it to 5 years and cover accidental damage. No brainier really. It was £20 for the wireless soundsport

Can you let me know if you successfully get 5 years cover for £20 extra? not sure that's the option, as this falls under 'technology': https://www.johnlewis.com/our-services/added-care so for an extra £20 they could make your 2 year guarantee cover accidental damage just..

Recommend these. Very good when used with the app, which also enables easy switching between devices (android phone and iPad in my case)

Just returned a pair of these to the Bose shop. The sound was pretty good but, unless you use the clip, then the cable drags to one side over time / movement and become a pain. I had, maybe, one drop out for about a second over a 3 week listening period (around the tube, London KingsX etc). I returned them as they simply did not fit comfortably in my ears and I did not like how they 'sat' and directed sound into the ear and not like other models where they sat in the ear canal. I also felt they were a little too big sticking out of my ears (personal thing). They never felt as if they would fall out of my ears though. Overall I liked them (and the separate charing case is cool) but too many down sides meant I returned them and will, again, continue my search for wireless earphones

No, but they are connected by a wire - so not wireless are they...

These are the ones I have: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0721MP41Q/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 A little more expensive now but I did get them on black friday. Highly recommend them.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_4_14?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=anker+wireless+earphones&sprefix=anker+wireless,aps,151&crid=1OMBLPMTZQH33 The 12.5hrs are the Curves, people say they are better sound but I dont agree, EQ is set better from box on the Curves but actual quality of headphones compared to the Slim are the same. I've had the Slim for 1+ years now, seems pretty solid and used on a few trips for snowboarding. The reason I got the Curve was to see if its was more comfortable with helmet (which it is) even though it has more mass/weight it spreads that out as opposed to small "sticky out" module that the Slim has.. For everyday use/gym etc I would just go for Slim and play with EQ on your phone to get it right, I still had to play with EQ on the Curve. In fact, after playing with EQ on both, I felt the Curves were tighter on lows but more muddy on mids... They sound as good as your typical £25-35 Sony buds but don't expect them to be similar sound quality to this deal. PS I'm pretty layman when it comes to this, so, please feel free for experts to jump in for more clarity.

I got the dm41 and spektor2 just before new year. Would hope your wrong and I made the correct choice. (lol)

Doesnt appear so but add a chromecast audio and toslink and your sorted. Just remember that this will reveal how crap the source is so if your stream mp3's they will sound souless, so use FLAC or a HIRes straming service such as Tidal of Qobuz. IMHO this will sound better that sonus. Go in store and try it out ( only problem is Richer dont sell Chromecast Audio ( Dont undersatnd why as its WhatHiFI 5*)

Nice find. Great first post

Is this a better set up than sonos 5.1? Also can the Denon be used wirelessly via apps etc?

Lol that's exactly why I ended up changing my system to Anthony Gallo as it was the only one that was aesthetically pleasing to her...if she knew it was £2k she'd may have changed her mind :{

I'm hoping that this is a sign that the receiver might be coming down in price. I've set myself a £400 target on the price of the DN1080 before I buy it. I was hoping that this would happen this side of Xmas but I'm prepared to wait a while if necessary.

For the price you'd expect something a bit more higher quality, like Onkyo.

I overlooked this part of the description. Featuring high current discrete power output devices on all channels, the AVR-X2200W is rated at 95 watts per channel (8 ohms, 20 Hz~20 kHz, .08% THD)

I really dont know what you are trying to say here and think you got a little confused the 500w input you quoted is the power consumption of the amp and nothing to do with the power it outputs. the output is dictated by the size of the transformer or transformers inside the amp the amp here in question is rated at 125w per channel at 6ohms (or 150w at 4ohms) speakers as i hope you would know have different impedance depending on the frequency they are being asked to deliver however the demanding low frequency notes which have low impedance and will require more power will be delivered by the sub and so we can typically say the other 5 speakers will be working within the 4 - 8 ohm window for the majority of the time and such will be delivered 95 - 150watts each loudness though isnt dictated solely by the power of the amp but also by how sensitive the speaker units are these speakers are rated with a sensitivity of 88dB (1w will give you 88dB at 1meter from speaker) which is pretty efficient and will be fairly easily driven

Unless you don't listen all that loud (I said low above but that's wrong), it shouldn't be a concern. It's something Exceptional AV put together, it might be worth querying it with them if you or anyone else is interested in this.

what amp would you suggest then?

Power Output (6 ohm, 1 kHz, 1% 1ch Drive) 150 W From what I know, this means at 6ohm, playing a 1 KhZ source (or tone), with 1 channel driven, it can output 150w. Misleading I know, but that's how they're rated. Once you add 4 more speakers and play a proper source, like music, things look quite a lot different. The AV is actually rated at 500w input, so between 400w and 500w total for all channels. If you keep the volume low it won't matter to you, but I personally don't think it's a great pairing. Maybe I'm wrong :)

Well I've not seen any actual Atmos blurays but I have however tested the official demos (look for 'TrueHD 7.1 Atmos' under the Sound column). For normal blurays I read it estimates and sends audio data through to the ceiling channels. Which does make movies sound impressive even though its may not be Atmos (Not even sure which films have it tbh). Though like I mentioned before, using a bluray player compared to the Xbox makes an immediate difference.

I like it

Is it real leather?

What movies have you watched that are Atmos?

I have the Onkyo TX-NR636 which I thought was expensive but compared to this it was a bargain. Must say though the Dolby Atmos with these systems is brilliant. I was a bit unsure at first as I was using my Xbox One for blurays but after buying a dedicated player the difference is amazing. Would recommend any Onkyo with Atmos.

Well Richer now have the ATS930 at £129...and if it's the same as the YAS 93, they are clowns because when I called to check stock on that they didn't offer this as an alternative. I would have happily paid the extra., since cheapest I could find with stock for the YAS93was £139! Now I am annoyed with them! These things are also much cheaper priced in the US and Germany I notice. Why do we get ripped off?

If anyone is thinking of the YAS 93 Richer Sounds are selling the Yamaha ATS 930 which has exactly the same spec as the YAS93. I picked the 930 up this morning from the Stockport Branch and they had about 6 left at £99.99. I did ask what the difference was between the 930 and the 93 and was told no difference. http://www.richersounds.com/product/soundbars-sound-base/yamaha/ats930/yama-ats930-blk

Update - john lewis will price match Peter Tyson price match if you prefer to buy from them , they say you get a 2 year warranty but yamaha offer 2 years on this item anyway, happy new year

I hope you managed to get it for £119, I see they have put it up now to £139 too. :(
