Watched the free preview of Mission Impossible 4 was fantastic

So do you go back on the website on Thur at 12pm and see the locations? I registred my dad account, do you think I can go with someone else or need to take him with me please?

I got half way through the registration process and felt somewhat uncomfortable about the scope of the personal information requested.

Sort code, first 6 digits of my debit card number, name, gender, date of birth, email address, password, postal address, mobile and home telephone numbers....

When I got to the password request I thought that enough was enough. I felt that what I was being asked for was essentially to produce a very useful identity fraud kit.

I can't even find a list of cinemas which will be screening this film so I might well find when the box office opens that there isn't a conveniently located cinema amongst the list of cinemas in which case I will have wasted my time in registering.

Anyway, I've just called Natwest Security and they confirm that this is a scam as they tell me they would never ask for your full password. They would only ask for certain charavters therefrom. If you have "registered" already you had better contact Natwest or change your password immediately! Natwest have asked me to forward the scam email to them at phishing@natwest.com

Cheers, the mrs just text me about it! She wouldn't have suspected anything so lucky I saw you had put this!

It doesn't ask you for your natwest password! It just asks you to make up a password.

It's asking you for a password, not your Natwest password - same way you are asked to create a password when you register for any thing online. If you are uncomfortable telling your own bank your CC details fair enough, but there's no scam here.

Yea just gone through it myself, not a scam, asks you to create a password not give your password

Plus it only asks for a sort code and the first 6 digits of your 16 digit card number...not gonna be able to nick much with that!

I called Natwest Security who confirmed it is a scam. The Registration asks for "password" directly after asking for other banking details. It doesn't ask you to CREATE a password. But it's up tp you!

How is it a scam... it's on the official NatWest website...

Plus other people on here have gone to previous screenings!

Its ok ,just rang Nat West and the first six numbers of your card tells them what type of account you hold with them and its a genuine site for rewards etc.

I can only assume you didn't explain properly.

You: "A website is asking me for all my natwest info including my cc details and password"
Them: "We never ask for a full password, it's a scam"

Rather than

You: "I'm on the Natwest Film First website registering a new account and it's asking me for a password"
Them: "Yes that's an official website we run, it is only asking you to create a password rather than give the one you use for Natwest Banking - it's perfectly safe, go ahead".

But like you say, it's up to you - your details, if you think the website looks dodgy don't enter them but I think it's pretty obvious it's totally legit.

And if you wanted to create a scam what better way would you find than to use an existing idea as a template....

Assume what you like. I forwarded the email to the Natwest phishing people and they confirmed it was a scam. Perhaps there are genuine and fake emails doing the rounds! Where's the best place to hide a tree - in a forest, of course!

This.

Not. A. Scam.

So you don't think it's possible for genuine and fake emails to be circulating concurrently....

Of course dodgy emails may exist. But this deal is with regards to the link above, under the big 'go to deal' button, not some possibly shady emails that people may or may not receive.

OP, are you sure you're not confusing the Virgin screening for MI-4 with the NatWest screening? The last NatWest film was Alvin & the Chipmunks - Chipwrecked. Virgin usually give out free popcorn but nothing at the NatWest screening. It wasn't even in 3D as stated. Not that it would've made the film any better??!!

I tried to register but it won't let me put in my DOB, just keeps flicking back

i can assure you this is not a scam signed up in october received an e-mail in november to go to see alvin&the chipmunks 4 took my youngest son to it in december he thoroughly enjoyed it just received an e-mail for the film as stated above but cannot go looking forward to receiving more e-mails from natwest as most freebies for films are for other cinemas :):)

do they actually ask to see your Natwest debit card? I couldn't find my card

I'm a bit annoyed that I hadn't heard anything about this given I've been with Natwest for most of my life and am on the FilmFirst VIP list as well. If anyone ends up not needing a ticket for London (Wimbledon ideally) drop me a message. Cheers!

It's a scam Natwest stipulate they will NEVER ask for ANY of your details. I am surprised there hasn't been greater press about this elaborate scheme.

Strange scam I've been to two films through this already and no they don't ask to see the card they are more worried about Turing your mobile right off !
