My British Gas tariff was coming to an end and "Fix & Reward June 2016" seems a good option rather than the standard rate.

After a quick chat to customer services it appears your free to change tariffs after receiving the £50 e.g change to standard rate and free to leave to change providers if you wish.

What this tariff includes?

Includes £50 Amazon.co.uk Gift Certificate[2]
Use your Amazon.co.uk Gift Certificates to shop from a huge selection of Books, Electronics, Music, Films, Software, Clothing, Toys and more.
Fixed prices until 30th June 2016 that won't go up if our prices rise
Unit rates are fixed until 30th June 2016 below our current Standard rates.

Available only to Dual Fuel customers paying by Direct Debit or Cash/Cheque.

Why cold?

British Gas Fix and Reward was given a big thumbs down by MSE last week . Go onto a comparison website and check whats best for you . Just got my £50 cashback cheque from First Utility (and it was over £100 cheaper than British Gas on an £800 dual fuel bill )

Seems to me £50 free money if you are a customer with them (usually something only new customers get) and your free to leave or carry on as before.

I suppose it depends upon how long the cheque takes to come before you can change again.

Thanks. Worth looking into, perhaps best to accept the £50 before leaving though?

Always a good idea to put deals on here . Then you find out its a rubbish deal before you get it . Provided of course members leave a reason for cold voting (as I always do ).

the beauty of bg is you can swap online with immediate effect so get the £50 usualy comes within 3 weeks then swap to the cheapest one or another bg cashback offer, i had 2 lots of £50 vouchers free hive and then i shipped out to first utility £50 quidco

Thanks for the advice all. I was told the £50 amazon voucher would take two weeks and perhaps use some compare sites (and cashback) thereafter.

Got mine in two days, is it not the fix and fall money saving expert said to be beware of.

Anyone who pays BG for their high gas prices shouldn't be allowed on this site take the voucher if you can without signing up to another contract, check exit penalties and make sure you use a comparison site to leave and get the best deal, use MSE or others to get cash back as well. Don't let the big ones fool you into thinking you have the best deal you seldomly do.

Took this offer out a couple of weeks back. Received an email yesterday from British Gas with a £50 Amazon voucher code.

I'm not sure if believing everything moneysupermarket Lewis says is as reliable as it used to be. In this case the millionaire is probably right, but do your own research.

Won't sign upto owt that gives them the right to extract money from your account if you're in credit!

You get £50 voucher, then go through a cashback comparison website and change to another tariff with any supplier, gaining another minimum £25 with no cancellation fees from your BG contract.

How can that possibly not be a good deal? £75+ for free???

So current customers switch to this get £50 Amazon voucher and go elsewhere as no exit fees. I've never switched energy companies. When I compare the deals and read reviews some people say they ended up paying more after switching and some say they shouldn't have left BG l.

That's not the same tariff by the way.

anyone with BG should switch.. you will save more then £50

As a current BG customer am i right in thinking i switch to this for a £50 amazon voucher, once i have the voucher i should look around for another deal leave BG with no penelties?
Sounds like a £50 voucher for sticking with them for another month or so then leaving, Hows this not hot?

First utility cheaper plus £50 quidco leave when u want.

Bunch of crooks BG, deserve a good kicking for sick customer service to say the least.

In that case its an excellent deal. Im sure most people are reading this incorrectly and think they'd be tied to BG for the duration in which case would work out more expensive. Ill certainly be doing this, cheers

Here is the link and clearly states no exit fees if you change providers (or tariffs). I assume it is just voted cold as people don't like British Gas. I guess the response would be similar if a deal required purchasing the Sun. Happy if it helps out someone.

Agreed-British Gas are the biggest crooks going who will try and get out if ever refunding or returning outstanding payments , will charge too much and then try and offer credit.
Won't let you change meters or tariffs claiming they have their own credit check system that you will fail regardless of your own perfect experian credit score.
They are a property investors worst nightmare.
Only reporting them to the ombudsman ever gets them to do as asked.

Awful company. Totally incompetent on every level. I've changed providers many times over the years and they are undoubtedly the worst I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Unfortunately when I moved house they were the incumbent supplier and lo and behold they c0cked up my billing and address for the 5 weeks I was with them before my new supplier took over. My new supplier is First Utility who have been excellent. AVOID British Gas like a dose of the bubonic plague which would be preferable to them.

So it should be a hot deal? £50 amazon voucher and ability to leave? If your happy with them, £50 to stay is good news. Win/Win?

Tried signing up but i get a warning:

"We are sorry but there is a problem with some of the information.

Tariff details are not available."

Grateful for the tip - Thank you

i get the same message. and tried going through their products and services> tariffs where these switch options are shown, got a quote and behold it doesnt let me switch to the one with the amazon voucher, only lets me switch to the standard tariff which i am already on. think i will call them another day.

Ok managed to get through.

However, it shows mu current deal as:
5.38p per kWh

And this tariff is 16.22p per kWh.

Anyone switching to and staying on this tarif must be crazy. What a rip off!!

£5.07
£15.29
for me.

i was about to check what im paying for kwh now, have to heck later.

I have received another £50 from British Gas for signing onto their September fix and reward. I will now swap to the slightly cheaper Fix and reward January and hope for a total of £150 amazon vouchers. My direct debit for gas and electricity is £30 per month (£15 per utility - with a debit balance on my account) so for me it is a great deal.
