Existing O2 customer: Unlimited Broadband, Sky TV, Line Rental £14.50 per month 12month

I am with O2 at the moment and pay £13 a month for broadband and line rental. Sky rung me up yesterday and offered me a 12 month contract for unlimited broadband, Sky Hub whatever that is, sky tv (movies or sports not included) and line rental for £14.50. I was very specific and asked if there were any other costs and was told not and it was exclusive to O2 customers even though I only renewed my 12 month contract end of March with O2. I said Io would think about it and they are ringing back Tuesday. Just wondered what people thought and if there is anything else I need to check out with them. Rachel

Yes, a great deal if you want their TV service. If not carry on at £13.

I took a similar deal a few weeks ago and had their Sky Fibre installed last Monday. Very happy.

You can also make a big saving by paying 12 Months Line Rental upfront for £119.90, which means you would pay less than you are now, and get the TV service.

Sky Hub is their name for the WiFi Router, like your O2 Wireless Box.

Mine just been activated this week. Seems good with no catches. You can opt to pay line rental up front for ££129 so that's only £9.50 month. I was with bethere in contract and switch over has been good.

£129 / 12 ?

Hi we took this offer up last month, no catches but you will of course need to watch the price once the 12 month fix is over. I had a similar conversation with them about thinking about it and arranged a call back for 5 days later. That didn't stop them calling me every day inbetween which bugged the hell out of me.

I have always shyed away from SKY.
Am I right in thinking they are going away from Satellite and turning into a fiber broadband Company to compete with BT and Virgin?

Hi folk, I'm with O2 and am currently running with the 12 months free broadand deal that they offered a couple of months back. What I'm waiting to see and no one can tell me 100% is what will happen to my 12 month contract when I am forcibly switched to the Sky system. In theory, my free 12 months runs through until April 2014.

I will check out about paying their line rental up front when they ring back. Never had problems with o2, I think I had two months free with them so only just started paying £13 a month, but if I pay upfront with Sky it seems alot of 'package' for the money. Not sure I will actually watch much Sky TV to be honest but for the line rental and broadband alone I can't find cheaper and we don't actually use the home phone.

Hi, it seems that you have taken their phone service and fibre broadband but no television? If that is correct, please tell us what exactly you have from them and at what cost? Did the price you agreed upon include any telephone options like Caller ID and "free" evening calls or even anytime calls?

The truth must be told, please.

I got free TV hd entertainment pack and broadband for a year as an O2 customer, so far so good, O2 were brilliant.

You would be better off going through Quidco and get upto £258 cashback, then you can pay very little for a year. But all the offers end in 5 days.

In reply to cibarious.

I already had their TV service, so I was offered free broadband if I switched my phone line to Sky, as per above.
I wanted Fibre, so they offered me free activation (Normally £50) and 6 months half price, £10 instead of £20.

I paid the line rental upfront, it was £119.90 three weeks ago when ?I paid, but may have gone up as someone else quoted £129

As standard you get Free Weekend Calls, you can buy other call packages for evenings and unlimited, but we use our mobiles to be honest.

Oh and Caller ID and 1571 Answer Phone was free on request

im a o2 customer and get the free broadband atm, I have sky but its in the other halfs name but o2 is in mine.. ive rang to cancel once but they talked me out of it, I thought o2 were great, I hate sky/bt broadband both companys are tossers..

ashleyh, what was the cost of your deal with fibre instead of broadband?

Do those that were offered deals that included Sky TV not have any Sky RV at the moment (is installation of dish included?)

Hi, yes if you don't have a dish you get free installation.

We had taken out a TV contract in March for £20 including HD and Sky Sports F1.

Then I took the Fibre Broadband with their Phone Line Rental. £119.40 (just checked my statement so effective £9.95 per month) for 12 months upfront. Fibre cost is £10 for 5 months then £20 for 6 months. This was the cheapest unlimited Fibre deal I could find, most limit you to 40Gb for that kind of money. As I was an O2 customer they also waived the £50 Fibre Activation fee.

It was actually BT Openreach who installed the Fibre and it is a BT Modem that was supplied, the only Sky bit being their Sky Hub Router.

Great deal, I signed up for this last week. £14.50 a month an you get free a Sky+HD box, Sky HUB, Sky Unlimted Broadband and Sky TV for a year.

How do you get the deal - is it by invitation only?

Damn sky rang other half yesterday and he hung up on them, think they'll ring back? this is a great offer as I'm paying more for just phone and broadband

O2 has sold their broadband to Sky. I got line rental, unltd BB, sky tv, and wknd free phone - all for £7.50 a month for 12 months on a 12 month contract ..

This not strictly true. they are linking up with virgin who according to press reports are going to be providing them with access to their fibre network. interesting to see if virgin apply their throttling policies to sky . I suspect they will given extra demand which will be placed on their network. You'll ge tied into a contract that you'll not be able grt out of without large penalties !!!!

£129 / 12 ?

I think it's £119.40

hi. i was with o2, ive changed to sky 2 mths back, and i just been onto my sky online bill and they have notifcation saying there is a price increase by 10% or more in september. just somthing to look into

What number did you call them back on? I've got o2 just now, and some Sky for £14.50 would go down pretty well. Thanks!

This sounds ideal for me. Fed up with giving Virgin £50 a month. Shame I'm not with o2

They told me that within the next 12 months or so you will have to move to having Sky BB and Sky line rental or you will need to move to a different BB provider as Sky don't do just broadband it has to be telephone and BB.

Whether this was bull is another matter, but that was the sales pitch.

Still a good deal though I took it, £119 for line rental, Sky TV (everything except movies and sports) and Unlimted broadband for the year.

After the 12 months is up you can cancel the TV package and the BB will be £10 a month + line rental which is still cheaper that what I was paying O2.

Is there a code to quote for this offer.... We are on with them now and been told we need a an offer code??

"O2 has sold their broadband to Sky. I got line rental, unltd BB, sky tv, and wknd free phone - all for £7.50 a month for 12 months on a 12 month contract."

@enginethrust - Did ye, aye?

Took up this deal end of June, happy with it so far, worked out you needed to make 15mins of daytime calls a week to make it worth paying £5 extra for anytime calls.

Only downside is that I'm now on sky network so BB speed has dropped by a meg or so. Something to do with Sky's signal to noise ratio tolerance. But other than that great deal. Oh and they are supposed to be emailing a £25 m&s voucher after 45days service. :-)

How did you get it for £7,50 a month? When he rings back on Tuesday I am going to see what I can get it down to and if I can get M&S vouchers too! I didn't have a code, to be honest any junk mail thay came through offering me deals I ignored, then just got a call out of the blue. They did ring twice a in the past couple of weeks but I said I was busy and hadn't got time to talk but they keep ringing back!

Would love to know how you get on, I was on the phone for over an hour and made the guy earn his money to win my business, I got the deal as described. Maybe the guy who got £7.50 is mistaken.

Was with O2 bb got offered smth like that a bit more I believe
Went with virgin instead but also getting 60meg bb TiVo plus hd+box all the channels (not sky sports) phone too for £57 a month but half price for 6 months
Thought it was a pretty good deal at the time
But I'm still waiting for them to connect me since its been a month
Their excuse was that they need to pull some new cable and later on their excuse was there is no parking!.
It's ridiculous really just want them for their big tv package and was told their bb was amazing with no throttle ...,,,,still waiting on them to install...
[/i]

Virgin aren't in my area (for fiber) but I know they throttle their BB which is enough to put me off.

can someone please inform me where to go to get the best deal w sky tv? (as a new customer)
thanks

I'm not sure what they will do. If you want I have a half price sky code if you want it.

I had the o2 boradband, but not the phone.
Called them for the mac code as was planning to switch so they offered me the phone + anytime fibre 40mb and hd tv.
line was 119.40 paid upfront and i should be paying ontop £15 for 6 months, then £20 for 6 months. total package of £329.40 for the year or £27.45 per month.
Not sure how good a deal this is. i asked for vouchers but they said it was the best they could do. and could not give any free vouchers.

Are you currently a Sky customer?

I'm getting lost can someone help? Currently I pay £22.50 for sky entertainment, approx £14 a month to BT for line rental (free weekend and evening calls) and I'm on O2 broadband at £6.25 a month. I don't really use my house phone so don't care about free calls etc?
