As with all China based sellers - use Paypal, its all the protection you'll get. In the event of problem, try to make a claim from Paypal. Sending items back to China is too expensive. Personally never had problems with Gearbest, but they are not known for good customer service in the event of a problem.

When ordering from gearbest get parcel insurance on postage.
Went without for a £3 item and they tried fobbing me of. Went to PayPal for refund.
I quite like gearbest, never has any problems.. bought lots of electronics / mobiles A*
personally, i wouldnt shop with any site that had such appalling customer services tales.
found no reviews of it on youtube

Never had any problems with gearbest, recently bought some Xiaomi items and they were delivered promptly (much faster then aliexpress and dhgate).

Have some heat, looks like a very promising product.

Well it's brand new and on pre-order, I doubt there will be any reviews yet.

im sceptical about the specs and price
or even if these specs would be true
what is so special about this camera compared to 4K action camera sold at Amazon?
normally these action camera posts will get cold vote, but this post get HOT?
hope fellow members here could help explain, what is the advantage of this camera compared to what were sold at ebay/amazon?

many thanks.
if this is anything like elecam explorer elite then it will be well worth the money. I bought the afore mentioned for a trip to thailand and got some great underwater footage.

Seems decent for the price for those who don't want to splash out 200-400 on a go pro.

So since PayPal will give you a refund, why get insurance?
Great deal but what puts me off these deals is not knowing if it will arrive and if you will get stung for customs duty. I have had not insured / tracked items never arrive. I have had insured / tracked items arrive but have had to pay a hefty import duty. Great if all goes ok but a hassle if not.
looks very similar to my Eken E9 knock off.

They will usually mark it as a gift anyway which you only pay duty on above £39. So you would be very unlucky to be hot with this.
Just buy thought PayPal and don't pay extra fro insured delivery

Your missing out then. I have bought a fair few things (including 4 phones) from the likes of gearbest banggood and geekbuying and never had an issue, only got hit for customs once when i paid for the upgraded delivery (thanks DHL.....)
What is night time/low light performance of this likely to be like? Tempted at this price for a replacement dashcam.

its their customer services, not the fear of customs charges which they avoid paying

True. Didn't think of it that way.
I have an Ele-Cam (elephone) Explorer Pro. Image stabilization, excellent in low light (Sony sensor) .. Any dashcam better than none..
Worth a punt, will update if it arrives

Even though people regularly post deals on here with most more than happy with the service from China

I had an item on preorder the other day and changed my mind 2 weeks after ordering (it was actually the 1s version of this camera)
Went on live chat and asked to cancel, before the convo had even finished I had an email from PayPal saying I had been given a refund. Don't think even amazon can match that customer service!

It will be cheap interpolated tripe, go with a mobius action camera.

i think amazon would be as near instant on a preorder, and considering they wouldnt have shipped it, gearbest wouldnt have had an excuse not to refund you. Its the faults and lost items where the service is awful.
Not sure whether the MGCOOL Explorer WiFi 4K Sports Camera - SILVER 208049402 for an extra fiver is a better deal. Sems yo have Sony sensor rather than this Geko Micro GC2023. that I don't know anything about.

Are these both gopro rip offs and can utilise the same accessories as gopro?

You obviously just don't like them. Just use PayPal win win
Use AliExpress instead. Plenty of GoPro copies on there (including Hero 5). Great quality if you can't justify GoPro prices

You know if this model turns on automatically for dashcam use? I wonder is there a name for that specification?
How does this one compare to the other more expensive MGCOOL explorer cams available on gearbest? I'm after a WiFi camera for remote underwater shooting.

I can't work it out and its doing my head in. I think it largely comes down to the sensor. This one seems to use a GC2023 which apears to be only 2MP with higher still and video resolutions being achieved by interpolation.

The Explorer 4k seems to use an 8MP Sony sensor that again uses interpolation for some of its higher resolutions.

The ? top of the range 1S uses a 12.4MP Sony sensor and a different chipset but again uses interpolation for max resolutions. also has image stabilisation which is a big bonus.

See:
http://www.mgcool.cc/

Might have got it completely wrong though. anyway, I'm going for the 4k explorer for the extra £5 with a known sensor and less interpolation.

Just out of curiosity, why did you buy both? Does not the explorer elite have better quality internals.

I bought the Mgcool one first, I had planned to use it on the bottom of my rc bait boat and use the WiFi app to see around the lake. Only later I found out that the WiFi signals don't work through water. I then decided that an action cam with VA output would work so I could mount a WiFi transmitter to the top of the boat and output the video feed from the camera to the transmitter. There is very little infomation on this camera and I didn't no weather this would output video via the mini USB so I looked for an alternative. I found the elephone explorer elite to be the best option for the price. If I had known earlier I may not have bought the other but I'll use it as a better dash cam if nothing else.
In my experience all these small action cameras are pretty bad quality. Yes they're cheap but for me I just couldn't appreciate the photos or movies from them...
