Extend Your Argos Gift Card by Spending 5p

OK bit of a weird one but do bear with me.

Currently you get a free £10 or £5 gift card depending on your purchase at Argos. Problem is this expires on December 15th so you could forget about it and miss out altogether or you may want to wait to spend it in the sales.

There is a way to get the card to be valid for 3 years all for the cost of a carrier bag.

You need to purchase your goods at the checkout and collect your gift card. When your item is ready for collection ask for a carrier bag from the member of staff but explain you have no cash and ask them to take the 5p from your gift card. When they do this the gift card is debited 5p but importantly revalidated and the expiry date changes to 2019.

Really not sure if this is helpful to anyone but I know I will forget about my £10 and it will probably expire at least this buys me a little more time.

In fairness I think they do 5p and 10p bags as well.

nice one

If anyone is sneaky its Argos, if you fast track items you don't get a gift card instore instead a code is hidden right at the bottom of your order confirmation email! It's easy to delete the email without noticing it.

Does a 15p bag even exist?

Banned

what's the point of this if you can't recycle it.
I'd rather buy £1 wipes at the till, which I would use.

Why don't you just buy something with it ! life's to short to be **** about like this !!!! Surely you can find something you want out of the thousands of products argos sell. This isn't a deal it's a punishment !!

Tried to upload reciept to title but difficult to read it was actually a 5p bag, I was so overwhemed by the whole experience that I inflated the price.

Fraud.

Cold.

Bye.

Addendum: return 15p carrier bag.

Take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves.

I think the point is that you buy the carrier bag at the point of collection, not at the tills.

I bet you're fun at parties.

It's a free £10.00 voucher you got from Argos it's free you are not paying anything. Why don't you just spend the £10.00 on anything you want on the day or bin it if you forget no one cares. If Argos didn't give you a free voucher then would you spend 5p on a carrier bag and why waste this thread there is no deal here move on.

Was your opinion wanted or needed?
No on both counts.

You've just made my day

Buy this to extend the validity and donate it to a Christmas toy appeal, can't be accused of fraud then

How about just buying a £10 gift card with your £10 gift card,,simple!

Well done op. It's frustrating when it expires. Didn't know you could do this. Thank you for sharing. I'm sure Sainsbury's won't be happy.

Have you ever had your own business ?
Nothing in life is free, even a 'free' giftcard - it's all factored in to the initial price and allowed for when thinking about profits at the end of the year.
In other words, customers are paying for this gift card over a period of time which only Argos know exactly, and it isn't really free.
They could give a small percentage discount on every item they sold, but by giving you a gift card they will eventually get another sale if you use it - rather like buy one get one free instead of making something half price.

What a great idea rent-a-tent Although I think my mother-in-law was ripped off last Saturday when she bought COD legacy edition for £64.99 but was told because they had started the 3 for 2 on toys they no longer do the £5/£10 gift card with purchases and now she's gone on holiday so won't be able to complain

It *may* even work just to ask a the till for a balance check. This can be enough to keep the card alive

???
Why is it fraud?
He/she bought a bag for 5p.
