I have one and it's brilliant. Hard to justify but if you like films or music at a decent level of sound it's great!

I take it Google Assistant is a no go with only that hussy Alexa mentioned?

Sonos have been promising to add Google Assistant for some time. It may eventually arrive!

Great prices for some great products. We've got a house full of them!

Hands down best company for customer service too in my experience.

Even my wife can use the app and she isn't a techie at all.

Would love a sonos one but the idea of. No bluetooth which means u need a premium music subscription puts me off, if u have this for 4years thats like 500quid of spotify subs
  11. sjc1977's avatar
Really want the sub to pair with my playbar but still cant justify £559 unfortunately
  12. daz_75's avatar
For a play1 it works out about £3 cheaper than richer sounds with the all day £4 delivery charge. As richer sounds have a 6 year warranty it's probably better to go there

I dont own the music i listen to, i stream it... which u cant do unless u buy a premium sub to use with sonos, massive drawback (edited)

As a smart speaker they cannot be beaten vs Echo Alexa, Google Home but then it should be as it's double the price!. My only gripe is no Google Assistant support.

What I cannot recommend is if you start off and create a 5.1 setup with these as they are inferior and stupidly expensive for what they are.

Again if you buy two (stereo) a dedicated amp, speakers chrome audio would be where my money would go. (edited)

Takes more than a plug to support hi Res audio.

Using Zeek top up your zeek account with £100 then get an extra £10 credit free. Then buy curry’s e vouchers from them with your credit and get them for 2% off and you’ve gotten at least a free£12 towards this in vouchers then too.

I need something for my tv in my lounge as the tv is quite a way from the sofa. Is this suitable and if so, would I need 1 or 2? What is the difference between this and a soundbar?

I'm being pedantic now, but technically-speaking, Sonos will play 24/48 (WAV and FLAC have been tested by myself), although they don't officially admit this. It's been able to play 24/48 WAV for ages, but back in version 7.x I think they updated a library that had the unintentional side-effect of also allowing 24/48 FLAC playback. However,as it was an unintentional side-effect they don't want to tell anybody in case a future change reverses it!

There's a single post buried deep on the Sonos forums from employee Ryan that 'unofficially' confirms this.

But yes... they won't play any hi-res files above 24/48.

Just click and collected two play ones in store and they gave me the discount.

Took a print off of the online price with the discount code on it showing the 5% off and the guy in store happily took it off the price

Got 2 play ones for £311.60

    Thanks OP

I've got two. The one I use for music is used a lot. Not worth the money at all but sounds good.

The only I used for movies sits unused in a pile with the PLAYBAR and P3 surrounds. Don't buy Sonos for movies, it's really not very good.

I'm quite sure it only handles this by downmixing the audio to 16-bit first. The hardware can't handle 24-bit or above, so it may play the file but you won't get the quality from it.
