PTC Heaters:
Positive temperature co-efficient - PTC heating elements are small ceramic stones with self temperature limiting characteristics. PTC stones have fast heating response times and plateau once the pre-defined reference temperature is reached. The shape of these stones can be be designed to be square, rectangular, round, ring or doughnut style. Above the reference temperature, the semiconducting and ferro-electrical properties of the ceramic are utilized to produce a rise in resistance of several orders of magnitude, and hence produce it's self limiting properties.

PTC Features & Benefits

* Safe through temperature limiting characteristics
* Dynamic, self regulating, and therefore energy efficient
* PTC surface temperatures can be set from 40° C / 104° F to 280° C / 536° F
* Temperature tolerances +/- 5° C
* Compact design

A nice price if your not from Northern Ireland.

How big a room would this heat? We need a heater to supplement poor central heating in a large room and I cannot find any information as to what sort of size room this would heat.

One should be enough as 1.5 kilowatt is equivalent to 1.5 bars of the old electric fire. You would need a second 1.5 kilowatt if you switch off during the day and you expect the room to heat up quickly quickly at night upon your use. Also you will need a second one if you have no double glazing and that there is a lot of glass surfaces where you can loose a lot of heat. You do need in a draughty cold room with lots of windows 3 kws or even two X 3kws if your room is very large and has high ceilings.
