Hi
Thanks for posting. And welcome to HUKD.
It is good practice to also add the merchant and price to the title. It helps people who are just browsing through. And in my experience your post will get a few more “hot” votes.

most nvidia cards that are around £100 do for me as im not into the spending £300 for a graphisc card

ebuyer.com/pro…184
ebuyer.com/pro…711

Things like them for me

I bought a 9600GT awhile ago and its still decent for my PC

hotukdeals.com/ite…al/

Use that for the graphics card, then you've got one damn good PC for under £300.

Anyone know what mobo it has in it? If it has 6 sata's it'll go down nicely just for components!

Mobo is a G31 mx-k by foxconn

I got this 1month ago brilliant little machine, love how the MB allows you to O/C the CPU in steps or just go mad!!!

All i will say is beware of power supply requirements on faster cards....

good deal. i agree with the graphics card power requirements post above so i would go with something like this scan.co.uk/Pro…567 . its clocked down about 10% on the memory and gpu. good price for a good enough card.

Wouldnt it be better to buy the HP Proliant ML115 server ? ebuyer.com/pro…131
You would get a server grade machine with a quad core processor. 4GB RAM would be another £35 from Play.com. I guess it depends on your needs, but worth considering if you want to use the machine as a media server with the PS3 with a lot of storage.

yes quad core but only 160GB hd and 1GB ram and no mouse or keyboard :P

so £35 from play.com and then £50 for hd?? £15 for a mouse and keyboard?

It all adds up

This is a great deal, it's only £10 more to buy this as parts!

Here's the QuickFind's if you fancy building yourself:
155434, 169229, 135600, 159390, 097527, 147879, 164273

You just need a screwdriver and some know-how

Would this PC play CoD 4 decently with this card? ebuyer.com/pro…861

pardon me for my noobness

Thanks!

good for gaming if i add a gfx card??

is it noisy?

yes but may need to look at power supply.

I would advise the 4870 for £90 as mentioned ealier in thread. Would make this a very good machine

a 4890 would be much better but would require a better PSU as this one is only 350w

In future, can I upgrade this processor with something faster?

eg a core2duo or a quadcore?

and would this be hard to do?

Thanks

This ebuyer PC is only about 6 components (case, motherboard, cpu, memory, hard disk, dvd drive).

Instead of buying it and then upgrading later why not just by the other 5 components and the "better" CPU you want right now, No need to upgrade later.

I am sure if you hunt around you could buy a "barebones" PC with similar components.

For example here is a Novatech barebones with a better CPU. You just need to add hard disk and DVD Drive.

novatech.co.uk/nov…P6N
.

does thsi have all the drivers for installin XP etc? I've never done it to a sata drive and have heard it can be a problem.

I bought the Intel version the ML110 G5 a while back. It came with both mouse and keyboard, both with ps2 connectors. The keyboard was decent enough.

Looks like a good deal. would be grateful if some you more IT literate than me could give me some guidance.

I only need a computer for work purposes, email, internet, Word etc. I dont need it for any gaming.

Would this be good for me?

What else will i need to purchase? I have seen some Widescreen monitors popping up on this site. Presumably, one of those will be ok?

Also, how much is an operating system? actually, i dont even know what it is lol.

So, imagine youre talking to a 5 year old when you responf

Thank you

Yes you need a widescreen/normal monitor that has a VGA socket in it, thats the blue one on the back of the pc in the picture on the website.

An operating system is around £60

Windows XP (2002) dabs.com/pro…ows

Windows Vista dabs.com/pro…ows

Comes as a CD, switch pc on with monitor plugged into the back and into power, put the cd or dvd in. Follow onscreen instructions and it will do it for you

For the software off the same site

ebuyer.com/pro…048
ebuyer.com/pro…052

Bit more expensive tho

Oh and theres this which is windows vista and allows you to upgrade to windows 7 when it comes out

OK, thanks for the info! rep! :))

I've read the thread but I'm still a bit confused on what graphics card to buy with this comp (for decent levels of gaming).

I'm assuming this will have a 350w psu? I've seen people recommending to buy the PowerColor 4870 512mb, but was just wondering would it work with that power supply?

If it won't work can someone recommend the best graphics card you can use in this PC?

Thanks for any info.

If you want a decent graphics card you will need a 450+W power supply, they arent that expensive

Looks a good deal, can someone just clarify for me ...

If I buy this and an operating system (Vista) will the desktop be good to go. Am buying for mum so not got the time to mess about setting it up for too long, simple is best. Also can an OP System be used for this and say a laptop (sister needs one and the £300 deal also on ebuyer looked pretty good)

As an alternative

ebuyer.com/pro…510

ebuyer.com/pro…286

direct.tesco.com/q/R…spx

Would any of these do a decent enough job. Budget is around the £300 mark. Will be used for Office, Internet and the odd photo/video editing. The one at home now is just too slow.

Thanks in advance, you guys have always been very helpful

If you dont even know what an operating system is then this is NOT the PC for you.

Buying and installing an operating system is not the job for a person who does not even know what one is.

Buy a PC with Windows pre-installed.

If you buy the Windows operating system you can only install it on one PC.

When you install it you enter a set of "numbers" (this is the key) and Microsoft will check if the numbers have only been used on one PC.

Also, if you do need to install the operating system you will also need to install the drivers on top of it, and this is not a job for someone who is not very technical.
