Can't comment on one's posted but I have both an outdoor and indoor camera of this brand using their own app. Easy to use and simple to set up and very impressed with quality of image on both. Had them for sometime now and can't fault either.

there's a comment about if you install it on your wall, the picture is set at an angle. You need to install it in the soffits. Is this your experience on the outdoor one?

comment from ebuyer review
Only 2 small niggles, the cameras are best fixed to a soffit, fixing to a wall tilts the sun visor on the camera to the side it is also not so manoeuvrable for positioning, if you have to fix to a wall an “L shaped” bracket will be required. The connections from the camera are quite large, I purchased rectangular electrical boxes to conceal the plugs and keep them dry.

Couldn't really say mine is located to view a covered driveway, so lower than the usual camera mounting point.

Why would you want to go 4k in CCTV ? It will fill your hard disk in no time .

Reolink

Got a reolink camera and not impressed. Researching reolink gave some negative views on CCTV forums so I tend to not rate them highly now.

I take it this still doesn't come with a bit in HDD?.

Would a portable gaming HDD, like the one's found here:

hotukdeals.com/dea…435

And here:

hotukdeals.com/dea…728

Sufficient as internal HDD's? (IF they were broken out of their external casino's, etc?).

Or would specifically a DVR HDD be recommended for this instead, or something?, thanx.

Yes they do work within an Internet connection, just connect it via ethernet cables, to your home router, etc etc.

And job done. :-)

Use amalgamating tape ( not regular electrical tape) to totally wrap connectors inside boxes as our weather is fatal for cctv cameras if just relying on ip boxes

sorry for late reply ..... bust day !!!

I have just lashed up one camera to do a very quick test - will do full install over the next weeks

honest answer is mixed - video quality is OK for 1080p ..... not brilliant but acceptable. Exposure setting may well improve it but not had time to fiddle with these

build quality looks good

set up is very easy - no instructions required really.

night vision is good but detail is not the best. I need to fiddle with sensitivity for motion detection - even at mid point (default) it appears too sensitive.

I do like the adjustable motion detection and zoned motion detection. Also privacy filters make it neighbour friendly

android app seems to work well, but I do get so many alerts - hence need to mess with sensitivity. Pith there is not web portal to view via remote PC

for the money is is not bad. I think I will keep it.

What's wrong with it?

What's wrong with it?I'm looking at their PTZ

I was trying to get my non-PTZ camera of theirs to work with DVR software and it seems they were not implementing certain parts of the standards properly.

At the time I remember it being something to do with key frames or I frames. This was the issue that affected me but using the cameras own webpage to view the feed was flawless, it was clear and non-choppy.

There was a lot of information on dedicated forums.

assuming you have changed the default recording mode in the schedule in the system settings from continuous recording to motion detection then there is one step in the app you must do that is not obvious

Firstly in the app make sure the power settings allow continuous use of the app / in background

then go to more menu (three dots) and then function settings then make sure Message Push Notification is ON

then check for each camera using the gear symbol and then each camera using right arrow then Alarm Notification is Enabled

Then on the app home screen you should see a small running man symbol in a black circle in the bottom left of each thumbnail

Thanks for the explanation. I think I found the problem then. I don't have this bit 'then go to more menu (three dots) and then function settings then make sure Message Push Notification is ON'. I go to the three dots, then function settings, but there is no Message push option here.

I'll try fiddle some more thank you.
