Just found this while browsing the Virgin Media website. Good for those who want full internet protection without paying for a license!

Also you can get up to 5 devices registered!

Great it's free, but virgin media are still horrendously expensive compared to sky, and with 18 month contracts. I nailed sky down on price, so can buy my own internet security and still be better off. Virgin wouldn't budge on price.

Guess they're not using the rebranded trend micro they were giving away before now.
This couldn't be worse I suppose.

F-secure was a pretty decent bit of software about 4 years ago not sure what this is like but hot since its for free.

By 'eck... A freebie (of sorts) from Virgin... Will wonders ever cease?

Sarcasm aside, I used to use this all the time, but adding extra PCs in the house, it was becoming a bit expensive. Recent reviews aren't as positive as they used to be, as already pointed out, but as a no cost years trial, I think I'll have a dabble.

Thanks for the tip off!

That's fine if you have a landline. I don't so Virgin ended up cheaper by some way for me.

Thanks for posting this, downloading now. What is this like for the mobile?
Heat added.
Cheers

Just on my last month of current security. Reviews seem good enough so will check it out, thanks

Kaspersky internet security for Barclays current account customers ... each year they update it and im happy with the anti virus protection.

I have Virgin BB, as Sky weren't offering high speed at the time and their BT carrier was unreliable.
I signed up via one of the cashback sites and got £80 back, and took a phone + BB option because that was the best deal.
I don't use the phone at all, and decided to cancel it; they offered me £5 less per month than BB alone to keep phone + BB.
They've also done their utmost to give me a good connection; firstly giving me a separate access point to replace the SH's Wi-Fi component, and more recently a SH2 (which is really good, in all honesty).

My impression is that Virgin's 60 Mb over Wi-Fi is more than 6x faster than Sky's "up to" 10 Mb wired.

(I've still got my Sky BB too, in case you are wondering...)

I use Comodo (Free) .. very good comparing to others

thx, comodo free is perhaps the best and a very strong firewall. Microsoft essentials is free from microsoft.

Both are not heavy on the system, you cant beat free but this deal is also so not bad. I would advise this over kaspersky which is still a drag on the system, nod32/avira/ms essentials are top 3 for me.

I have 120mb from VM and its a great. I've also downloaded this security for my newphews laptop and it works a lot better, better then then the old security suite they had

Does anyone know how good this security is? I have Kaspersky but it's running out soon, and I doubt I'll be able to afford the renewal.

I had a look at the results from the link posted in post #8 and it comes out better than Kaspersky.
If you would rather renew a familiar brand though ebay, Amazon and Play.com have competitive prices against Kaspersky. I've renewed before for around £10 a year for a single user. All genuine copies and way below the official site costs.

I'm with vm and have the F-secure freebie for a year. My problem with this is it doesn't work in the back ground. It constantly pops up wanting you to do this or that or even reboot constantly. I use my PC for work and can't reboot or constantly acknowledge demands from it. Is there a setting I can change to prevent this happening. I have fully scanned PC and update fully every day. Can someone help. Cheers
