F-Secure SAFE Internet Security - 1 Year free for Virgin Media customers

Found 26th Jan 2015
Just found this on My Virgin Media, I realise it's been around for a while but thought it might be worth a post for those that aren't aware... Like me half an hour ago

If you've heard of internet security software, you’ll know how important it is to keep yourself, your family and your computer safe on the web.

Good internet security software protects you from internet baddies so you can enjoy the web, worry free.

There are many brands of internet security software, but we wanted our customers to get what we think is the best. That’s why all our broadband packages come with award winning internet security worth £79.99* from F-Secure®, absolutely free for 12 months.

Then if you're happy with the service, you can keep it for either £7.50 every 3 months or £25 for the year. That's a massive saving of £54.99.

At least they're not trying to promote their horrible software they provided some time ago. Nice freebie and hot but I wouldn't consider renewing.

Plenty of free alternatives out there.

I had this free for a year and they offered me £25.00 to renew for a year if I was still a virgin customer

If they offered me £25.00 I would have taken the £25.00

29°?

This should be way hotter as it is one of the best security products. Some people don't know the difference, anyway voted hot OP.

Guess I am one of those people! I have never heard of it before but willing to be enlightened! How does this compare against the other free alternatives?

Fsecure are fairly good, yes you can get free AV but the detection rates are lower if you do comparison tests they come out well.
I already had a one year subscription with fsecure that i paid about £40 for, saw this on the letter from virgin saying they were upping my bill :0( lets you add up to 5 machines on one account, as i look after the pcs for another virgin customer i'll get two years free ;0)

HTH.

Will I be automatically billed when I have forgotten all about this in 12 months time and am no longer using it though? Voted hot anyway

No, they don't take any payment details.

No you will not be charged, when it expires, they will say you can extend your subscription for £25 (I believe by e-mail). But you can just ignore it.

It should be a legal requirement for all ISPs to supply software to protect their customers from viruses via their services.

Was sceptical at first but this is a cracking antivirus... you're allowed to install it free onto up to 5 devices. Hot.

Don't forget that includes android too.. plus it has remote format for phones if it gets stolen... sent your phone a text with a password and it is wiped

I took up this offer over a year ago and had no problems with it. Very good compared to alternatives. Have recently renewed, think I paid about £8 for a single user off eBay so don't be fooled with their 'offer' of £25 once your year is up. Recommended.

Might delete avast and get this.

Downloaded. Just one question, on Android, there seems to be two apps for f secure. Anyone know which app is the better one?

You'll want to go with F Secure SAFE... As this is the one that comes with the subscription
