Wasn't this a spectacular failure, never sold in large numbers

And considering it's been the run up to Xmas , zero advertising, which says it all

Expect it to be quietly withdrawn as a product

Last paragraph says it all. Facebook is selling the old stock, these are discontinued since a long time. By now most people know it, that's whu we see these at good price. Meta will focus on other type of products, mostly towards the business sector.

As with regards to failure, they've sold a huge amount of these and their other Portals. The failure was they wanted a high price and at £200, not many purchased. Echo and Google devices sold at cheaper prices. Also, Facebook issues related to data protection affected the sales.
As soon as they reduce in price, they sell straight away. I think they did very well, and IMO their TV Portal is the best device out there for video calls. Especially at £50, which became lately their RRP. I'm surprised the competition did not come out with products similar to the TV Portal. (edited)

You can use either Facebook Portal to call your Facebook friends and connections on Messenger or your WhatsApp contacts - even if they don't have a Portal.

We have the go version. It's actually a pretty decent product and been great for WhatsApp calls to grandparents. Only thing I don't like is the Alexa doesn't have full integration (all 3rd party products seem to be similar especially around Apple music but Sonos now works) and can't turn them off. Still don't like you have to have both Facebook and WhatsApp to get it to work so won't buy one for the grandparents. Also fails as a photo frame as don't mind uploading family photos to Google photos or iCloud but not so keen on Facebook! (edited)

Yeah does say free delivery right at the top of BT deal page. Only 1 in stock since posting. For £39 it's a bargain imo. Part of their winter sale.
