Give it some time, once you get immersed it is a amazing experience.

best game ever made, you have to put the time and but then will get addicted put over 150 hours on 360, now playing again on ps3 lol was you start discovering place you can then fast travel makes a big difference than wondering around aimlessly

Takes at least 3 or 4 hours of gameplay before you start doing proper quests.....

Good find.

Blazing hot, heat/rep, one of my favourite games on the 360

incredible game, the first 20 minutes are very boring, once outside the vault just enjoy the huge sandbox experience with tons to see and do.

I've been waiting for this to come down in price. I still don't consider this a great price though, its been £20 for quite a while now. Think I'm gonna wait till can pick it up for about £12

Thought it was a bargain at £20, especially as it has all the DLC available.

One of the best games of all time IMO. Well over 200 hours game play, if you like RPG you should love this game.

I've bought and sold this 3 times. I just keep coming back to it. I LOVE this game. It's so big and immersive.

With the standard game its got 50-100 hours worth of time to discover the entire game, with the add on packs, 2-3 times this time period. Best game ever IMO.

VATS seems very boring

Stick with it!. I bought it ages ago but gave in too quickly. Bought another copy not too long ago and got well and truly immersed. I got some advice to do the "The Wasteland Survival Guide" quest first, this really helped me.

I suggest you go back to COD then...

V.A.T.S. can make the game incredibly easy, but its entirely viable to play it without if you want a bit more of a challenge. great price for a GOTY edition.

It takes a while to get into it.... I hated this game even after buying it twice to see what the fuss was about.

I got it for a third time a few weeks ago and you have to play it with an open-mind. You have to understand that in a post-apocolyptic world, worthless stuff is precious. It also wants to give you the feeling of being alone.

I found it best to turn-off autosave and use manual saves as you go along. Then if you get killed or crippled by a bomb you can just load back a save where everything was fine and avoid getting killed/crippled the next time. Also I recommend turning up your skills on small guns early on, it helps a lot.

I found the game a little slow at first, but I'd played Borderlands through before I started it. Once you get into it, this game is simply fascinating. The main story is amazing on its own, but the DLC adds another dimension to it. I paid £28 for this when it first came out as GOTY and do not regret it one bit. There is simply so much to explore in this game, I've completed the main story and the fantastic DLC packs and there is still a lot left to explore.
Amazing price for an amazing game.

i have been put off playing this game by people saying when you're level 20+, the game randomly crashes and freezes on the PS3 version.

did this bother anyone else?

I always see the same comment made for this game and I have to agree. This game seems very bland for about the first hour or so but I can definitely confirm that once you start upon the main (and numerous) side quests it just blossoms into a fantastic immersive experience. For me, it just kept getting better and better. I paid £4.95 from Blockbuster for this GOTY Edition and it's my bargain of the year. I've completed the main storyline and whilst I don't wish to give anything away - you may think the ending's a damp squib but load up the extras and off you go again! Perseverance is required but just when you start to get a bit lethargic, it twists again and your'e right back in the thick of it!

With regards to VATS: For those who don't understand and have yet to play the game, VATS is a variation on the standard combat point and shoot fare. Yes, it could be perseived as easy but I just love the camera angles/action it creates as a result. It adds to the experience for me. You can; as someone has said; play the entire game not using VATS but I find it mostly entertaining and at times, mildly amusing! I love to blow an enemy away and see him do a back-flip over a wall or down a cliff in slow motion! VATS also allows you to target certain body parts so you can disable an enemy and then watch him panic!

All in all, if you like a game to be free-roam but still have a 'point' then I cannot recommend this enough. Just stick with it though as I'm sure - just like everyone else - you will think at the beginning: "Well, this looks a bit crap!"

Bring on the Super-Mutants baby!

Its under £15 on Amazon at the moment but sold by gzoop. I'm thinking about buying this. Is the ps3 version still buggy? Should i go for the 360 instead?

Just ordered for the princely sum of £16.87 on PS3 from Amazon seller gzoop. Ta for the tip!

I nearly went with the Amazon trader but I've done that before and got a Region Free game which was then not tradeable on the High St. Can't be bothered with Ebay.

Really? Thats the opposite to my experience. Not sure about the dialogue, but the graphics looked bad on the PS3 to me. All jaggedy and Nintendo 64 like. Lots of the online mags like IGN and Gamespot said the same thing.

maybe an update not sure, only played in last few weeks on ps3, but defo more detailed and more hd like for me not much but noticeable

Tried explaining this to a mate with a PS3. He came over for a wii sesh with a few others and he hadn't seen the UFO and was gutted to see how much better it looked on the 360. He thought the sound was better but i think it was the same just he refuses to up his sub level and has his rear speakers on the floor.

Certainly does mate.

I had the game since release on the PC, was given it by someone who also could not get into it, and neither could I.

But I got it very cheaply for the PS3 a month or two back, and I really persisted this time, and eventually got into it BIG TIME, and it's now one of my fave games ever. It grows on you more than anything. The fact that your completely defenseless at the start is very offputting, but don't take on any serious enemies (or more than one enemy at a time if you can help it) at the start, and eventually you'll get a couple of perks and a decent gun, then you start kicking some arse, and your away! ;-) I just got the GOTY edition a few weeks back also :-D

Hot deal

No offense, but all the bad rep the PS3 version get's is total and utter bull, spread and made up by 360 fanboys. I'm speaking from experience here. I've played the PC, 360 (on my bro's) and the PS3 version, and there's no noticable difference in the console versions. Obviously the PC version is the best.

Banned

Igh. Typical that this comes out as soon as I decide I want to replay the game. Would have bought this rather than buying the game and addons separately! Heat added

I have the GOTY edition but I am not installing the add-ons until I have finished the main game. Last time I installed everything and too many missions kept coming up so I didn't understand what were the main storyline and what were side-quests.

I have both 360 and ps3 and I love this game so much I have it on both systems. The standard version of Fallout 3 is roughly equal on both consoles, the 360 does look a little better with anti-aliasing and less obvious pop up. However the ps3 version is close its no big deal. However with the GOTY version its pretty clear the extra missions haven't been fully tested on ps3 there are quite a few issues, slowdown etc at times. I put this down to the fact that the extra missions were exclusive to 360 for some time and then later available for ps3 on the goty disc. The goty version is definitely better on 360. That said if all you have is a ps3 then I still strongly recommend the goty version. Truly awesome game. How they made the game world so huge and varied I can't imagine. No wonder bug testing is dare I say weak a lot of the time.

None taken but PC is the best yes. 360 IS noticeably better but not a great enough difference when you are playing.
Even the Official PS3 mag stated the PS3 had a lower frame rate and jaggies.

Anyway a great game whatever you play it on.

Just a heads up - You can purchase from Gzoop via PlayTrade rather than Amazon and save another 53p!

£16.34 delivered. Hope this helps someone !

That would be down to the perks or stats you've chosen, seeing as they provide extra conversation paths depending on which you have available...
