Something for Fallout fans to keep an eye out for!

Fan-Created FALLOUT: NEW CALIFORNIA Goes Beta After 9 Years!

Via Kotaku and PC Gamer, Fallout: New California now has a Beta build which is playable from beginning to end. The mod follows a character from Vault 18 as they make their way through California’s ravaged deserts and cities.

One of the reasons this mod stands out is its sweeping scale and 14,000 lines of dialogue that were recorded by over forty actors. It’s still small compared to the official
Fallout games, but it’s an impressive accomplishment for a fan build to even reach this stage.

Might be worth waiting til 2025 for alpha....

I think you need to look up the definition of alpha and beta in terms of software development.
Fallout in Beta? Isn't that a normal Bethesda release build?
This looks amazing, wish they'd do a mod for fallout 4 that makes it nothing like what it is now!

At 2:04 'Pretty Good Gaming' talks about the New Vegas mod, and says "It's playable right now, from start to end, as a mod for New Vegas, and it's totally free".

I couldn't for the life of me, find the the freebie section to post this info.

I've only just got a Windows pc for games since using Mac all my life and I can't even save butches mum from the radroaches in vault 101 in fallout 3 with the keyboard controls
HOT for the huge amount of time that those fans put into making this mod. It will probably have less bug as well than the Bethesda version...

This is not out. The article you even link doesn't have it also. It is, I believe, closed BETA. This has no download to anything free. Did you read the article?

"I want to get more work done, Rick and I, before posting a date, but we're within one update away from a final verdict. I'm not sure if the date Rick and I are looking at is going to really nail it, since we need to do more stress tests and a "nitpick level of refinement," then we'll know for certain. If it's green light I'll release the next trailer, we'll call out of work, prep website, pack files, test distribution, and get ready for Open Beta."

Two suggestions

One - you say you are using a trackpad. For the love of all that is holy, treat yourself to a mouse. Doesn't even need to be anything fancy - it will make your laptop so much more usable in more than just games.

Two - specific to Fallout - make use of VATS. The whole point of that is that it takes the game back to the stats rather than relying on your twitch responses. It gives you plenty of time to plan your shots, so even if you do stick with the *shudders* trackpad, you can still toggle between enemies and body parts to target.

Even if you go down the gamepad route, VATS is still an option, so find what works best for you
I'm so excited for this.

NV did have full controller support. I know because I played through the whole game on my laptop using an Xbox controller years ago.
Hot, hot, hot. All credit to the modders.
So where can I download this? Can't see where.

It's supposed to be in BETA now, but like I say "Something for Fallout fans to keep an eye out for..."
So maybe just keep checking in on it periodically, it looks like is will be dropping quite soon, if not imminantly. Fingers Crossed.
Based on the title I really thought this was available now
