Or ultimate edition for £7.49

Seemed like a good price - I think it’s as low as in the recent Steam sale for those who missed it (like me!)

What does ultimate edition give?

Good question! From Steam

Includes 7 items: Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout New Vegas: Dead Money, Fallout New Vegas: Honest Hearts, Fallout New Vegas: Old World Blues, Fallout New Vegas®: Lonesome Road™, Fallout New Vegas®: Gun Runners’ Arsenal™, Fallout New Vegas: Courier’s Stash

Seems like all the DLC. It’s the one I’ve gone for as I’ve heard good things about a few of them.
you will want the ultimate edition, especially for mods
Anyone who has not played this yet then go for the Ultimate edition, it is worth the extra cash, cracking game, i completed it on PS3, PC and most recently the XBX and i am looking forward to the F4 Vegas mod.

Any recommended mods?
For the money - awesome - and the DLC missions are great. Go for some mods too, anticrash, bug fix, textures etc - basically look at the "top download" lists on nexusmods - this also applies to Skyrim etc

Beautiful DLC’s. Old World Blues is especially haunting and isolated

Check this website out for good mods. I recommend the Texture pack and Nevada skies Mods. Also, the character overall mod. There's a shedload of mods to choose from, best way to experience the game, IMO.
You'll need this mod as well. It's essential, if you plan on installing a lot of mods.

I think Fallout 4 sucks so much compared to Vegas. It's like they are 2 different Franchises, let alone 2 different games.
Does this work on Windows 10? I swear no. 3 won't work on my laptop

Been trying to play Fallout 3 on a decent PC but to no avail as soon as I get into it and have fun it crashes on me. I've tried everything to fix it, even reading the Readme file in the game folder. It seems like certain actions etc trigger it and it freezes. Also, for it to run in the first place you need to download some app/program, I forget which one though.

EDIT: you need to install windows live but don't need to run it for the f3 to work.

Because it's not really an RPG, more of a open world FPS. The dialogue options are poor. For example, Yes No(Yes) Sarcastic(Yes). Your character being voiced really limits the dialogue. Also, you can't play evil. Apart from the graphics, weapons and open world, New Vegas is just the superior game, if you're looking for an RPG. They made 4 more casual to appeal to a wider audience.

I heard it works better on gog, then on Steam.

I mean, why is it bad that they want the game to appeal to a wider audience? I'm sure as hell gonna give it a go. These days everyone's a critic so can't have an opinion on things unless played/watched/read/ate everything yourself, really.

Because it's more about selling copies, than making a good RPG. I don't think Fallout 4 sucks, I just don't think it's a good RPG. I'm just giving my opinion. I've played both and got 80+ hours on Fallout 4. I'm just saying after playing New Vegas, it makes the faults in 4 more obvious. You enjoy what you want to enjoy, no problem here.

Well, I'm new to all the Fallout scene. So will be giving them all a go! Just unfortunate that the first game I pick runs very poorly on my machine

Well I own Fallout 3 and new Vegas with GOG. They've managed to sort out the compatibility issues with Windows somehow.

It doesn't suck exactly, it just sucks compared to Vegas. They did away with the Karma system (being good or evil) which totally kills any immersion and synergy between the player and the character.

They also limited a ton of the dialogue so your responses to lines of questioning became as basic as 1.Yes 2.No 3.Maybe, in Vegas you can just cut the conversation short and shoot him in the face.if you wanted..They also added a voice for the player character which you can only choose about 1 of 4, and none of them are how you want your character to actually sound.

Fallout 4 also has a lot more 'Action' which somewhat detracts from the experience of living in a 'desolate wasteland'

More importantly the story in Vegas is absolutely stellar and you get caught out quite a few times. In fallout 4 you don't have that same feeling. Playing 4 felt like playing an MMO - run around and shoot enough stuff until I'm the right level to walk into even higher areas and kill all that stuff in there too. Rinse and Repeat. It's not a terrible game, it's just not exactly very good either.
I just finished Fallout new Vegas Recently and now gone onto Fallout 4 (about 36 hours in) and it's not as a good as Fallout new Vegas as others have said here. Fallout 4 isnt a bad game im enjoying it and will finish it...... It just doesn't have the same feeling as New Vegas. Worse thing for me was the dialogue in Fallout 4 it just shows 1 word answers for all 4 options. Once you mod Fallout 4 it feels better.

I also modded New Vegas and here is list of mods i would certainly install (You might need the DLC for some of these) :

NVAC - New Vegas Anti Crash
NMCs_Texture_Pack_For_New_Vegas
4GB Fallout New Vegas Updated & Nevada Skies - Weather Effects ( as mention above)
Fallout Character Overhaul
Yukichigai Unofficial Patch - YUP
Interior Lighting Overhaul

Just spent the day downloading and installing mods for New Vegas - Nevada Sky was the only one that caused issues and I’ve had to disable - ready for my first EVER play through of this.

Am I officially now a PC gamer?

You are in for a treat playing it for the first time, enjoy.
Loved Fallout 3, New Vegas & Skyrim so will have to give it a go but still have Assassins Creed 2, Witcher 2&3 to get through yet so will wait a bit to purchase Fallout 4.

Thank you for the comments.

I doubt it, I think I clocked in over 2 hours. Can you refund games that don't run properly? I've already wishlisted Fallout 3 and NV on GOG so will be buying them when they're on sale and hopefully I'll get to have a full and pleasant experience since you say they're fixed on GOG
Highly recommend getting ultimate edition, some of the DLC's are better than the base game. (IMO)
