This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Pretty cheap price for the starter set (usualy around £50 everywhere else, although Amazon have it for £43 atm which is also quite cheap), I have always wanted to give this game a go and for this price I can not say no!
It got a 8.1/10 on Boardgamegeek (if you do not know, this is like the imdb of board games), which is a good score
Quite a lot of minis for this price, although keep in mind these are the PVC versions of the minis, resin versions can be bought seperatly (without the game/rules/tokens/cards).

EDIT : Out of stock now so marking it as expired.
Although if anyone is interested id use the "Notify me when this product is back in stock" function, I have used it in the past and it came back in stock a few days later.

Nice find! I got some expansions for Christmas but couldn’t find the starter set for a good price. Now I can finally play!
BOARDDECKDICE-5 should work for 5% off (before postage)
This looks abolutley awsome
Can anyone recommend some good board games for 3-6 players? Medium-long session length ideally, though i bet that means something different than i have in mind

3 that come to mind straight away are:
Scythe
Rising Sun
Dune (long)

Depends on what sort of games you like?

If that link doesn't work let me know, I did a quick search on BGG for 3 to 6 players and sorted it by ranking.

Some might not work well at higher player count, Viticulture for example as there would be a fair bit of down time

Scythe looks like it could be interesting, it's for a few of us moving into a flat together, none of us play board games but we'd all be into something quite themed with a nice aesthetic that we can have a laugh playing so not TOO much logical depth that would end up being divisive...

Scythe isn't too bad. If you are thinking of playing 6 player then I'd recommend getting the board extension.
The map is printed in two scales on the board. If there are 6 then it might get congested on the smaller one.
I'd also recommend getting the invaders from afar expansion if you do like it.
If you have a boardgame cafe near you, they will most likely have a copy for you to try as it's £60ish for base game.
It is good though.

Just realised rising sun is only 5 player as well for base game. Checked my box (so to speak)

Cosmic Encounter. Only for up to 5 players, but you'll work something out.

Thank me later.

I'll raise you Twilight Imperium. Medium length compared to say a university degree course

Both look great i've noted them down. Any other theme oriented suggestions? Maybe something more suited to those nights where we're... less coherent...

I played a game of Dune with someone last week who once had an 18 hour game of Twilight Imperium...

Something lighter and more party orientated? There's plenty of those. I'll do you another link

Codenames (and its derivatives) is great fun and would fit the bill as plays well with 3-6.

Just looking through that list, be aware that a lot of them really need higher player counts to work well.

If you want miniatures have a look at one of the Zombicide games, Black Plague, Green Horde or the new scifiones.
It is aesthetically pleasing, fun theme and around 60 mins long.
I havent played any of them but have always thought about giving it a go, people seem to like them.

btw its a coop game, not sure if your into that, I find that they are more fun because competitive people can ruin a game night.

If you're new to boardgames, something like Lords of Waterdeep might be good. That'd be a good intro and you might look into Scythe etc after that if you get on with it. Everyone new to gaming (that I've played this with) has really liked that. About 45 mins to play.

Zombicide was mentioned which is also really good for just a fun night in having a laugh. Enough of a game to get you into it, but not overly complex. About 60 mins to play.

Pandemic is my favourite game, which I almost hate to say as it's so standard these days, but I've yet to find something I like more. Cooperative, great theme, good for solo play once you're used to it. You can get the app and try it before too, so you could see what's what. About 40 mins to play.

In fact, getting a couple of apps based on popular games might be a great way of getting the idea without dropping 30-40£. Everyone here will give you totally different answers and it won't help ha ha.

Also bear in mind you're at the mouth of a very big rabbit hole. Once into board games you can say goodbye to life as it once was.

Will be giving them a good look! Miniatures seem like they'd be good fun too

Lords of waterdeep sounds like a load of fun, D&D without... Whatever the difficulty and complexity of running a D&D game is lol.
Do a lot of them have app derivants? I'll remember to look some up because that's a brilliant idea

LOW is more like resource management with a d and d setting, so is more like a better version of traditional board games that do that sort of thing.
If you wanted Dungeons and Dragons without the hassle, a good start would be one of the official D and D adventure game series, with my favourite being 'Legend of Drizzt'.
You basically flip a tile at a time, revealing the dungeon, and monsters turn up every turn that you need to fight with dice. It has miniatures which are quite nice, it's accessible and fun and is around £40, which is pretty good for the amount of stuff you get.

That reminds me, a decent, fun horror style game that's similar is Betrayal at the House on the Hill. Similar sort of thing, but part way through one of the players is given the role of Traitor and works against the other players. Great game if just getting into the mechanics of modern gaming.

I have apps for Waterdeep, Pandemic, Star Realms (a card game) and loads more I can't remember. Also, there are millions of board game videos on YouTube. The Dice Tower is a popular channel that has all sorts of content, and there's also the 'How it's played' channel which is usually my first stop after getting a game and is great for explaining things understandably.
