...what exactly is different between my 'vanilla' version and the new 'Platinum' one???

this one has

Special features

•Disney View •Disney Family Museum •Interactive Art Gallery and Screensaver •Audio Commentary with Brian Sibley •Original DVD Commentary, Interviews And Story Note Recreations By Walt Disney

might just be an extra piece of nonsense like an extra interview or other guff they package up and flog again.

Disney's BOGOF offer starts Monday...basically this is half usual RRP so same thing. I'd wait until Monday as Amazon will probably have the blu in a 2 for £15ish deal.

Was yours a double play? As far as I can tell the two editions are identical except for this is missing the DVD.

Blu ray now appears back at £12.99. Is that still cheap or not?

Great, so now you can get the Fantasia (DVD + Blu-ray, with DVD Packaging), Fantasia (Blu-ray + DVD, with Blu-ray Packaging), Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 2 Movie Collection [Blu-ray] (which I have) and now the Fantasia - Platinum Edition [Blu-Ray]...All on sale at the same time and released within about 4 months of each other...Sounds like Disney have have been consulting George Lucas and also the Lord of the Rings distribution team about making the most of a franchise...If this really is a 'new and improved even more definitive' version then that's really annoying...

It's exactly the same, just sans the DVD copy. As you have the Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 collection (like myself) it's exactly the same as the 1 disc blu-ray our boxset has.

Do you think this will have a slipcase with it?

One viewing of Fantasia, let alone one copy, is more than enough for anyone. Insomnia would've been a better title.

Oh, that's alright then. I was already starting to wonder what could be new about it, as the extras listed didn't seem to be different... Cheers for that
