you do realize that the steam version not only requires steam, but uplay too. so unless you are going to do a dodgy download, you have to use uplay.

Hot Deal! Fab Game. Uplay, Origin, Steam I don't really mind whatever gives me access to a great game. Scan my computer for photos of me on the beach or in the pub I couldn't care. Rather buy the game and enjoy it.

Agreed. If I'm going to play a DRM game, it has to be good DRM. And I … Agreed. If I'm going to play a DRM game, it has to be good DRM. And I consider Steam to be a good form of DRM. Not only does it have a great store, a decent community and blazing fast downloads, but you can also easily play games on multiple systems. So, no sale from me. Perhaps I'll get the 360 version from the bargain bin one day, but I'm taking the same approach as I took with the downloadable Final Fantasy VII here. Steam has monopolised digital downloads. Sooner publishers realise this and stop forcing really crap DRM on us, the better.

Too right brah, I love me a good monopoly. Everyone else should just go home and give up.

    waiting for STEAM activated version
and I dont care if it has another 2 or 20 more DRM's if game cant be activated on STEAM it may as well not exist
STEAM means convenience, it means I can login into any PC and fetch all my library, no CD's no multiple logins no hassle. I do keep login and pass for Uplay and Windows games on my encrypted google drive, just in case

Uplay has been the smoothest games client for me, beating steam and origin.....just sayin'

I don't know why you all want games only to come out for Steam and nothing else. A monopoly is bad for consumers so all competition should be relished.
  11. Quietus's avatar
Yeah, for those querying, there is no Steam version of this. All Steam does is launch the game, but you're required to log in to UPlay regardless.

this is the best game i've played for a long time that i consider a 'full retail' game(excluding the games on XBL or PSN). I'm no fan of FPS or adventure games but this is a gem of the highest order and if you consider yourself any sort of gamer, this is a must purchase at full retail, to miss it at this price is a sin.
  14. Mark43's avatar
I'd rather not have to use uplay, but its really not that bad, but if people want to miss out on one of the games of the year for that reason fair enough...

Heat given for a fantastic game at a great price.

Uplay plagued with security issues and is constantly hacked.

Useless telephone help and no compensation (thanks for the 0844 number ubi) or even a sorry for having to reset my account detail with them on the phone as their security doesn't verify the identity of the computer logging into the account.

Gutted they make games as good as farcry 3 as I'd rather not hand them another penny.

    Either way...
    The deal is HOT!!!

Uplay has pretty much been fine since the v2.0 client came out before christmas, so stop twisting for a steam only version.... aint gonna happen, much like Origin whiners...

Someone please help me out. I play a decent amount of PC games. What's … Someone please help me out. I play a decent amount of PC games. What's the problem with Uplay and Origin? I don't get why people will rate a game badly on Amazon, for example, because it uses Origin.

Basically, there are numerous forms of DRM, all of which are ways to combat piracy. Each one has its merits, but most people prefer Steam versions due to Steam having great support, and being well established, very stable, and having very fast downloads. UPlay and Origin have been plagued with problems (along with Games for Windows Live), and have rightly been slated by those that have been forced to use them. It's essentially the public's way of lashing out when something they're forced to use doesn't work like it's supposed to.

I bought this on Steam and it was also my first experience of Uplay. If I'd known then what I know now I would have bought it ages ago when it was mispriced at about £5 on gamestop. As others have said there is no benefit whatsoever in getting this on Steam since all it does is launch Uplay. As resistant as I am to anything non-steam I actually have no problem at all with Uplay. It's quick, intuitive and generally well designed...basically it's everything Origin isn't.

No you get a code to activate on Uplay (Ubisoft's own program). Only way to get it on steam is to buy through steam itself.

uplay is crap downloads fail all the time 2 days to download a game no customer service avoid if at all possible
  32. jamie19916's avatar
As previously mentioned the Steam version uses uplay and needs an account with them anyway. This means the game is tied to two different accounts, if steam or uplay fails your game won't work. With the uplay version you only have to rely on them and only have one account for the game. I get all my games on steam usually, but for ubisoft games I think the uplay versions are better, I don't like the idea and complexities of having the game tied to two accounts.

I finished this at the weekend, it has its flaws but its a fantastic game and well worth the price. Check out Ziggys Mod if you like a challenge.
I bought it through Steam not realising about the uPlay program which annoyed me but Steam handles the game download so you just click Play on Steam then Play again on uPlay and quit out when your done, nothing else to it.

No steam, no sale. On a similar note, hopefully BF4 will have learned from BF3s Origin mistakes. Otherwise I'll be adding that one to the non-purchase list faster than Duke Nukem Forever!

Funny thing is, even on Steam it opens Uplay so good luck to those avoiding it by using Steam :P

Fantastic game, a must play. One of my favourite fps, maybe because it's so different to other shooters. So much fun to explore the island and take out the bad guys.

more accurately everyone else should stay home until they have something steam doesn't that incentives use of their system.
