Ok I realise this is slightly niche , and others might not see what the fuss is about but personally I think this is great

The Official FarCry 3 Blood Dragon Soundtrack . Yes I know you can get it on cd or digital download , but this is how it should be heard

This is a pre-order , it's out 25th of August . the initial release on vinyl sold out immediately and has been out of stock for months.

Product Description

Special Features: Black 140 gram Vinyl (2xLP) + VHS Insert (Artwork by James White) + Download Card. Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Original Game Soundtrack by Power Glove was originally released on Record Store Day 2014 on double pink vinyl, and sold out instantly. Many fans missed the chance at grabbing this phenomenal soundtrack. After lots of consultation with all involved (as so many missed out), it was decided to do a second version of this incredible score. Invada have been given permission to release this soundtrack on double black 140 gram vinyl (unlike the Record Store Day 2014 pink vinyl). Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon is the critically acclaimed game from Ubisoft Montreal, with over one million copies sold worldwide and the winner of multiple awards including Spike TVs Best Downloadable Game 2013. The music for the video game, a first-person shooter set on a tropical island, was composed by Australian duo Power Glove, who craftily bill themselves as two lawyers sent back from the streets of future, post-apocalyptic Los Angeles 2043. With a touch of romance and a ton of trouble, we're gonna get there... any way we can. Game developers Ubisoft say the soundtrack mirrors the game's vision of a nostalgia-drenched journey into the world of VHS-inspired dystopian futures. That just about nails the retro-futurist vibe of the music, which also recalls Barrow's excellent Drokk project from 2012, an imagined soundtrack to Judge Dredd. Unlike the Record Store Day 2014 release, this release comes on black 140 gram vinyl and doesn't include the exclusive poster. The release still comes with the VHS insert and download card.

** Hope someone enjoys it

power core is pretty boss, though can't ever see myself paying £22 for this.

Some lovely synth music there! If you like this sort of stuff then look out " thems for an imaginary film" on amazon/spotty. More of the same with several tracks rumoured to have been original choices for the Drive OST.

Game music is great again. Long live vinyl.

Pretty cool to have in vinyl collection

Massively niche, but cool. Heat!

Was gonna buy this on record store day. Don't think I will be buying this though, really liked the pink vinyl. Still, heat.

WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME IT WAS OMEGA FORCE????

its as if CDs never existed. next you will all be buying betamax and music cassettes. We've moved on a bit since this.

we've actually gone backwards. cd isn't as good as vinyl and mp3 is worse again. it's only the small amount if 96/24 hi Def music that's as good with a fewer again higher than that

Blood Dragon is set as an 80s shoot em up. As such they have done the OST on Vinyl as a sort of gag...

thats a matter of opinion but that like saying VHS is better than Bluray. Clearly not. Dont know how anyone can say vinyl sounds better than CD. Sounds scratchy for a start. Crystal clear on CD.

I realise that but still...people dont have to get so excited about it.

I've got hundreds of cd players so I don't need to buy one. I prefer CDDA but you just gotta try showing tolerance for others choices.

Oh, I know its their choice obviously but surely no-one can say Vinyl sounds better than CD? Thats ludicrous.

To some it does as they don't like a clean sterile sound that compact digital delivers.

go into a proper hi-Fi shop and ask to demo 2 systems at the same price. one with vinyl and the other cd. If the vinyl pressing is any good it will win hands down

It is the soundtrack we are talking about not the game but since you ask I have played it and didnt like it much. Mediocre Imo

So was I. oO

I thought welshie's comment was kinda funny and a little ironic given the game's future retro theme and blatant 80's humour. The game is described by Ubisoft as "an 80s VHS vision of the future". One of the missions in the game is even to collect all the hidden VHS. It just seems funny to me that anyone would choose this particular thread to try and bash people for buying vinyl. Even funnier to then go on to debate which is better, VHS or Blu-ray, Vinyl or CD. X)

probably not old enough lol :-P

i'm actually 40 so I am old enough to remember vinyl and the terrible problems I had with them scratching and breaking. And, no, I don't listen to MP3s either. I do realise that the game is retro. Its also not very good. my comments were in response to all the vinyl lovers here. You know who you are, the ones about to draw pensions.

Vinyl sounds live and far more real, cd is far too polished.

I like polished. Its like saying you prefer an old robin reliant as opposed to a people carrier. they are functional but the latter is far superior in every way. i prefer my music so that i can actually understand it without crackling.

Original Poster

Cd superior? apart from being able to skip tracks cd is an inferior sound format

there is no convincing you. CDs, in my opinion, are far better. They are more resilient than vinyl, they don't scratch as easily and the sound is crystal clear. If we had stuck with the old formats then the world would never progress, we wouldn't have DVDs, blurays and optical discs formats coming up. all i've heard from people is how vinyl sounds more real. That is a matter of opinion. As is what I am saying I know. the world moves on and music lovers must also.

Original Poster

Cd more scratch resistant??? lol your having a laugh

but I am not as funny as you. You have yet to make a viable argument in favour of vinyl. I have at least tried.

Original Poster

my ears do my listening. and listening through 3 grands worth of equipment

well, anything should sound good if you have paid that much for it. its okay, you stick to the past while the rest of the world moves on
