"Hello

As you know we have incredibly close ties to Japan and have been utterly shocked and saddened by the recent events.

We have decided to release a new single called 'Side By Side' and donate all profits to the British Red Cross Japan Tsunami appeal.

This funds the ongoing relief effort to help the Japanese people over the coming weeks, months and years, as they recover from this devastating natural disaster.

The single is released on March 27th, but you can pre-order it at feederweb.com/store

Please support our bid to help.

Thank you

Feeder"

Not sarcastic at all. Charity is always a good bet to get back in the limelight as it's relatively cheap but gets a lot of free publicity.

You must not know anything about Feeder then.

Bass player Taka is from Japan, Grant the lead singers wife is from Japan, your an ignorant idiot if you believe they are looking to profit from such a tragedy.

I'm sure it's all for charity and if a few newspapers pick up on it or it reminds people of who Feeder are (what is it 9 years since 'CD player, player, player ad infinitum) and they want to pick up a greatest hits then it's all good.

I'm sure the band and all involved would be just as happy with a donation straight to the Red Cross direct. lets try and keep away from arguing shall we

Shall be buying, love the band and love that they are trying to do something like this.

Apologies for, erm, previously registering the name. However I'm a fan and will be buying (as it's also a worthy cause).

Celebs give to charity because adding their name to something encourages people to donate. Chris moyles show generated over £2m for charity, if I attempted to do the same I would raise about £50. If there "celebrity" is marginally increased by the act then it's worth it as if they hadn't have done it the charity would be worse off.

So what you're saying is that Feeder are using there massive fame to bring attention to the disaster in Japan?

I think you're right, because I hadn't heard anything about the disaster before Feeder announced they would be doing a song about it.

lol u mad cow,
not to bring publicity to the disaster but to encourage people to donate, u are one mad cow!!

Don't know who the band and won't be buying it Not my cup of tea

Its a good and worthy cause and all, but have Japan actually asked for aid. They are after all the 3rd richest nation...

Bit speechless

Good to see this on here.

When I heard about this I thought it was a great idea. I knew Grant and Taka would have been hit hard by the news and I'm glad they've found a way they feel they can help.

Some people are far too cynical. If this had been some random band that had no ties to Japan, then fair enough, but Feeder have so many personal ties to Japan and no doubt they know people personally who have been deeply affected by the disaster.

Also - Japan may be rich, but this is a disaster of unprecedented scale and one that even one of the most earthquake-prepared countries in the world is unable to handle. One of the strongest earthquakes on record, in a densely populated area, causing a massive tsunami, capable of wiping out whole towns, with a potential nuclear disaster to boot. They need aid and they need lots of it and I have no doubt they will gladly accept any aid they can possibly get.

The attitude and the cynicism of some of the people on here is astonishing. The mind boggles, it really does.

Will be buying the single. Good band, good cause.

Last years album was one of their best selling albums yet

Renegades debuted on the UK albums chart, at number 16 and sold 8,729 copies making it the first Feeder album since 1997's Polythene to miss the top 10,

I'm all for bands using their fame to highlight causes, but I accept that when acts go on Comic Relief or whatever, they're going to be singing songs from the new album to promote that one. I don't blame Feeder for doing this. It's a great publicity tool.

And it brings attention to a disaster that really has gone unnoticed.(_;)

Just a reminder to people, buying this is not the only way to donate. u can even do it through psn (which is what i done).
Not buying this doesn't make u a bad person, people need to chill out!

Guys, seriously.......Do some research BEFORE making any donations

Japan has NOT asked for any help and it has been noted in many articles that the Japanese Red Cross is on record stating they DO NOT NEED OR WANT outside help! A lot of these charities being set up are a con (NOT saying this is one of them btw), so be careful what you do.

Until and unless Japan actually ask for help I do not see how any unwanted charity is going to be of any benefit. Especially monetarily, since no-one knows where, how or what the money will go on!

You may feel like you want to do something, (a lot of us do) but hold fire and wait till help is asked for. In most cases, charities are simply a way for people unaffected by the disaster to "Feel" like they are doing something. Like they are somehow connected by it IF they give a few quid here and there! Sad thing is, there are countless untold disasters happening every day that you DONT give a damn about and any small donation would go a very long way!

Yeh, the Japanese government hasn't asked for money, but what about the people? The government is too proud to ask for help.

I say give a donation, The Red Cross will make sure it goes to the right people.:)

There's a hole in my heart
As deep as a well
For that poor little boy
Who's stuck halfway to hell.
Though we can't get him out
We'll do the next best thing...
...we'll go on tv and sing, sing, sing...

And we're sending out love down the well!

By all means give a donation, I'm not saying not to - The Red Cross is just one of many though that could be doing with your help - just dont expect that money to go to the people you are donating it to help! In fact, I would imagine that a fair chunk of it will go on administration charges GIVEN (and again I feel the need to reiterate this point) the Japanese Red Cross (NOT the Japanese government) dont NEED OR WANT any help! Only WHEN they ask for HELP I will be on the phone or internet to help out in any way I can but until then I am helping the charities that ARE asking for help. In my case the Cancer and Heart Foundation charities!

It pays to be educated, especially where charity is concerned, as a high percentage of money raised by these "so-called" good causes actually never reach the people they are intended to help!

Can I just interject into the ThePennyPincher & FilthAndFurry.

Renegades Album was one of the best albums feeder has released to date and was shamefully abandoned by radio 1 in favour of charting generic RnB and other **** that doesn't deserve so much airplay.

I don't mind that it didn't chart, it just means a lot of people didn't benefit from hearing such a good album, additionally it didn't sell that well because they gave half the best songs away for free/or EPs prior to the album release!

Any real Feeder fan knows that Buck Rodgers ruined their career effectively as people followed them expecting similar songs! Feeder openly admit they hate the song and its sometimes excluded from set lists.

Feeder are a genuine band that aren't really arsed about the limelight only about playing music!

Agree with this, studied social enterprise at Uni and most of the time only 20% of the actual donation reaches its target.

I will be buying this song because I like Feeder, but in knowledge that at least some of it will be going to good.

This.

Theyre on their own label now so they don't need to sell as many copies to keep the fat cats happy. They can do what they want, when they want now.
