I think the following is a better buy:

It's cheaper and it's a cross-cut model so is more secure.

I've had two of those Woolies shredders, the first stopped working after a couple of weeks, and the replacement lasted a few months before permanently jamming. It's a good price though and it's ok for occasional shredding but it struggles with any sort of quantity.

I'm not going to bother getting the second one replaced, but I am on the lookout for a higher quality one, there's a £30 Fellowes crosscut on Amazon which looks promising. Anyone have any experience with this brand or any others?

Quality wise, I would not compare a no-name shredder with Fellowes! ;-)

Below some product reviews:

I bought the £15 maplin cross shredder a while back, it's now in the hallway next to a bin, it's now regulary used by everyone in the house who doesn;t want to throw papers away whole and not require several filing cabinets to keep all correspondance, these things are great value when used alot

I bought the £15 maplin cross shredder a while back...

Is it the one below you got?
Hm no mine is slightly diff, wider. cross shreds to 7mm or so and the top bit is bloody heavy, when turned on the teeth it uses looks like a torture device that could of been used in pulp fiction, I'll leave that to your imagination
Don't buy it!!! I bought the p-45 model and it stopped working after 1 month. Constant jamming and I spent all my time unjamming with a pair of sissors. Biggest peice of junk I've ever bought!! In the end, I bought a cheap Tesco cross shredder and so far so good after 3 weeks use.

I was reading reviews about the P-45 which seems to be crap (it's a cross-cut model). The P-40 (strip-cut model) seems to be OK though (according to a few reviewers).
sorry, didn't realise that the p40 is strip cut.

Anyway, steer well clear of the p-45, really bad product, guaranteed to stop working after one month of light use!

The P-45 put me off buying another Fellowes product for life.
