!!Possibly down to £355 with voucher code - hotukdeals.com/vou….uk

This deal is cheaper than the Wiggle F95 2013 exclusive road bike and is the 2014 version with choice of colours.

Also cheaper than the Decathlon BTWIN 500SE and with SORA better than microshift.

Also don't forget 2% cashback via Quidco

So what's not to like!

I have spent over a week looking for a bike for my son and having scoured the internet and local bike shops I think this is the best I can get on a £400ish budget.

Carbon fork and Shimano Sora groupset, but you will need to budget for a set of pedals.

Next day delivery if you are happy to final assemble the bike yourself.
Otherwise Merlin were quoting a 10 day build timescale if you would like them to build it.

£6.50 carriage for boxed.
£7.99 carriage for boxed - next day
The £29.95 charge includes them building up the bike and checking it before sending it - which seems reasonable to me.

Hope this helps others.

cold because it is not full carbonation

I think your brain is carbonated.
Would you like me to find you a gas relief valve or would you prefer a Pepsi top up?

Could someone please confirm whether you can buy a car for this price. It is an important question which does not appear to have been addressed in the thread so far.

Which is good, as at this price I would not trust full carbonage.

We looked at the Btiwn Triban 500SE and looks a good bike. Reviews are good but some concensus is that the upgrade to Sora on the 500 is worth the £70 premium - which I think makes the Felt a good buy.
    See http://road.cc/content/review/116333-btwin-triban-500-se-road-bike

We looked at quite a few £600-£700 bikes that had lower spec groupsets than Sora, e.g. 2300 or Claris. The Microshift equipment seemed quite poor in comparison.

How does this compare to a Specialized Allez?

Specialized = paying huge premium for the name, components are lower spec than this Felt in general.
At the end of the day any road bike is really just like a PC, made up of lots of third party components. The only thing unique to the make is the frame (and many are just generic frames rebadged anyway), which is obviously important but the real cost is all in the components. Anything else is just marketing!

A stonking deal for someone on a budget and someone getting an entry level road bike **NEW** not second hand off Ebay.

You'd be hard pressed to get a better deal from a quality manufacturer with a good starter component set. The guy voting cold for carbonation rubbish above is a chump.

Lol, I've yet to see a carbon frame bike for under £400. In fact I don't think I've seen anything with a better spec for the money full stop.

    Voted HOT!

You have obvioulsy been looking at the cost of Carbon Frames and not the complete bike. Even then you would be hard pushed to find a good carbon frame anywhere near this price.

my son is 5"4 and we went for the 54cm frame - to give him some growing space - and it fits him pretty well.
He certainly did well on a first 20+ miler SkyRide at the weekend, and very pleased with the bike.

£50 sounds about right, especially as they will re-tune in a few weeks (about 6 weeks for cable stretch.
If you are unsure about building then defo get the shop to do it.
It is not that difficult, but like anything only if you know how.

Called bout changing delivery date (I asked for next day originally) to Thurs and is coming tomorrow.
Did ask bout the black and they said there's a good chance of more stock in a week or two if anyone is interested.

The Felt has the better components and the Boardman probably the better frame. I don't really like the colour scheme on the Boardman so I'd go for the Felt.

Im glad someone else felt this way. Couldn't get over how different it was to the mtb. Couldn't get up the hill I've been cycling for the last 2 months in one go, almost killed myself using the clipless pedals, and it constantly felt like i was cycling on a flat tyre. Chuck in the monsoon like conditions and i bloody hated it!

    Hoping it grows on me.

I ordered the bundle deal with pedals/shoes etc and a helmet on top.Heat added as I cant finder a cheaper bike with a similar spec anywhere

I ordered the exact same! Shoes and pedals are great together. Had to adjust the headset and get the gears set up at a local shop for £15 - so beware, not as easy a set up as advertised.

Haven't had to true it - but the spoke tensions are variable. Don't want to tighten them all and risk having to 'true' it.
