A lot of people only have a few mile commute to work. My own commute uses 2,200 miles per year. The 8,000 miles per year allowance would be perfect for me and gives plenty of 'driving for fun' on top of commuting.

Why would I buy a motorway mile-muncher or a used car outside warranty? I can have a brand new one for an average of £240 per month - with a service and the possibility of 2 tyres likely to be the only other expenses. I'd have a brand new car, no hassle of taking it for MOT's, no need to pay tax myself and no worries about big ticket expenses outside warranty.

Hot vote from me, and cool for the car

Only 5k miles. Whats the point in getting a nice car if you can hardly drive it?!?!?!

rubbish mileage allowance tbf

absolute bargain for the RRP, probably best lease deal I've seen in months!

not a bad price... but would need to be more than 5k i think.

anyone done a test drive of one of these? they any good?

Read a review for the MX-5 and you're pretty much there. It's more or less the same car.

I work from home, my car is only for leisure. This would work for me.
But the dog won't fit!

I have a lease with 6K per year, 18months in and I’ve done 4.5k. Not everyone has to commute miles and miles a day.
so nice car for a nice price if it suits your needs.

It's nothing like the same car. Shares some parts but It's well short of the MX 5.

Personal choice I guess. If I had a 5 mile each way commute I wouldn't be using a car but that's just me. After your commute you can only do about 45-50 miles per week after work or 7 miles per day. You must not go out a lot. I can't even go for a loaf of bread in under 7 miles.

Unless this is a secondary car to something that can cover more miles it is an unusable mileage allowance for me and I am based at home for work.

I easily do 50-100 miles every weekend and that's just doing a few things like going to shops, sports, days out/away. Not even factoring in trips away/holidays. I could do a 5th of the annual allowance in a couple of weekends away.

I am not arguing that this allowance isn't usable for some but I cant even get close to double that and that is outwith any commuting.

Get a trailer.... for the Mrs!

Isn't it cheaper on Central UK Vehicle Leasing? £125.99 inc of vat for personal users.

Great deal. I still manage 8,000 miles a year even though I work less than 3 miles away and have all amenities like shops and leisure within a mile or 2, but still this is a cracking deal for those who the mileage suits

Other than sharing the same platform, mechanicals (except engine), interior and roof mechanism, as well as being built in the same factory in Hiroshima, no, it's well short of the MX-5.

Realistically could this be used as a daily driver? Cracking price but not very pratical! Tempting ......

The comparison tests I've read all come to the conclusion that the MX-5 is the better buy, both dynamically and cost-wise.

As the MX-5 has been in production for 28 years and is the world's best selling sports car, it's very unlikely to be beaten by a Fiat wannabe.

Any need to talk to anyone on here like that. What don’t you understand. The Fiat was developed with Mazda but it’s not the exact same car as an MX 5 reading a mx5 review will not be a straigh comparison. The car also doesn’t have a Mazda engine it has the untra unreliable FIAT one. Is that to complicated fir you or need any more help or info.

Mazda ship an mx5 more or less finished to Fiat and they put in a different engine and body panels.

Yes but sadly that final piece is a very critical piece as I said originally fiat are known for their what was it.....they didn’t get their nickname for nothing. Most reviewers agree this is the only model to buy, yes it a lease so doesn’t count but if it’s a choice between any other models and an MX5 you should chose the MX5. But back to the initial question you cannot read a review of the MX5 and assume this is the same car as they simply are not.

Look at the original comment. Do you honestly think it was meant in any form other than jest at face value?

I'm fairly certain the person raising the question can read a review and would have understood my flippant response.

The Fiat is quicker, but a more harsh ride.

I need to change my poker face.

If memory serves, the Fiat is more expensive than the comparable Mazda too.

Smoking from me!

Even at £169 for 8k miles is still pretty decent.

These are not the type of cars people buy to pose in. Well, maybe some people do, but then they deserve all the ridicule they will get.

But some will get a car like this just to have a bit of fun in summer with the top down. Same way you can enjoy riding a 250cc motorcycle without worrying that it's not a 1000cc rocket.

Nope, Fiat send their engines to Mazda who build the whole car on their production lines in Japan

This is a good thing as Mazda has an exceptionally high quality standard over the years, Fiat not so much (cough).

Came here looking for a deal about a 10 year old BMW and left disappointed...

I have requested a quote from both companies mentioned. I make central vehicle leasing a bit cheaper in total.
Will pop down to my local Abarth dealer over the weekend to test drive and see if the can offer similar lease deal.
Thanks to OP for highlighting this, my wife has wanted one of these for a while and currently owns a Abarth 500
