£72 for the yearly revision of a football game.....good lord.
The people buying this edition would buy packs regardless in all likelihood so this is a fair bit cheaper.

A lot of the heavy use players hit over 1,000 games per year which equates to several hundred hours entertainment. Whether you find gaming or FIFA FUT specifically entertaining (I don't) or even healthy is entirely separate.

There aren't many activities (aside those which are free) which can beat it for value. Break it down over a year's play (about £5.80 per month) It's actually decent value for the people who play several hours per week.

I have to hope this is a super special edition with limited edition stuff since your saving £20 on it to make it £70+. Can anyone explain this fascination with ultimate team?

The kids pay loads for extra packs and this has many included apparently. In short, saving about 20 percent.

I think 'Heeds' is Scottish for heads.

or heid.
Or, you know, people may see value in a product differently from one another

Awwww. I was convinced his was a good deal. Before I bite, is it??

Kids want FIFA and they play FUT.
Thought I would surprise them with this.
Most comments so far seem to be from uninterested parties, so if a FIFA player can give me advice, please, as normally only by standard game.
Thanks.

nobody in their right mind would spend that much, £89.99 rrp for this game. Ask yourself: how many other games are at this price on the market? That's right. None.

Plus people are hyped up for this abomination of a game, when only up to a month ago, every other post on online forums such as reddit were about how bad FIFA 17 was. Somehow suddenly all that is forgotten. Bunch of idiots, I tell you.

Only if you stick with Ultimate Team for the 5 months the extras included cover, and even then it's pushing it as value for money a bit. I believe it's 40 'free' packs with this edition, 2 each week over the course of 20 weeks/5 months, so to get the most for your money you'd need to stick with that mode.

From my experience of Ultimate Team though it's a bit of a con as in most packs you'll get nothing decent. But it's entirely up to the individual how much they'd get from that mode.
Some people have much more money than sense ...

It is a good deal for what you're getting, you always get the same people on any post relating to a sports games posting the same drivel, just ignore them.

Each pack is ~£2.20, meaning you're getting £88 of packs + £45 base game + early access and a few other bonuses. That's at least £133 worth for £71.28.

Like westyuk1 said, if you (or your kids)play it throughout the year you really are getting value for money no matter how you look at it.

Thanks. Yes my kids play it every spare hour from Friday night to Sunday night.
Before anybody judges me, not that it is any of their business, they also play cricket and hockey throughout the year so this is their bit of fun.
So yeah, what you say makes me.think this is worth it. Thanks.

Thanks. Looks like it may be worth getting.
Standard comments that come around every year.

I've gone through about 3,000 matches of Ultimate Team on this last Fifa, and paying extra for a head start on possibly getting a decent team is worth it for me. I've lost count of the number of hours I've put in, but if a £40 single player game last for 10/20 hours (generous), and this gets played 5x, 10x or 15x more, then the raised price is worth it overall.

Not that I condone such a thing, but playing it a lot and getting lucky with packs can give you the opportunity to sell some of your coins, should you wish to take that risk.
the reason why people are making negative comments is not because of the game itself, but rather the greedy company behind it.

EA are an evil corporation hell bent on making as much money as possible whilst stifling innovation. Every year we get what is essentially a re-skin and roster update of the same game and get charged so much like the aforementioned £89.99.

I don't recall PES charging anyone that much last year. It contained all the Barcelona legends including Brazilian Ronaldo.

Also let's talk about the gambling addiction aspect of this horrific game. Kids are all hooked on opening packs when they don't even know the odds!! How stupid can people get?

Plus the game contains handicapping to some extent where players on your team suddenly either lose ability or gain an advantage from the way the game is programmed. Therefore you're not really in control.

If you aren't angry about all this then you're part of the problem.

I don't think that is the reason as noone else has made the points you have. But your post is interesting.

Re. Gambling....is it any different from match attax etc?
All you have to do is look at YouTube videos of people opening packs to see the epidemic. Grown men shouting their head off in a fake manner when they pack a high rated player in order to hype up their naive young audience, who then try to emulate their YouTube idols by opening packs. These YouTube folks get sponsored to open packs at no cost to themselves while normal kids have to spend money.

Plus on some occasions the packs in offer are worth £15.99 for one spin. That's sickening don't you think? Especially when you don't know what you're going to get. In most cases you get nothing since EA drop the probability of getting the high rated players.

Loot boxes and the likes have plagued online gaming and gambling addiction is a real bad problem currently. Unfortunately there is no legislation for gambling in games as it's a grey area in general. It's a real slippery slope

Wait how?
Serious question, does anybody actually buy games at this price anymore?

/just had flashback to buying street fighter 2 on my jap snes
Would they bother selling them at this price if nobody bought them? Of course they do.
It’s atrocious that EA have the balls to charge this amount for a yearly game. Updated teams and a few upgrades are not worth this amount of anyone’s money
Has anyone done this? its saying the code isnt valid?

opened a new account and tried again on facebook with a new code..i think i was just too slow getting the giftcards in the basket after generating the code but beware and get the basket full first!

also quidco 1%

they have all the kids frothing from the mouth over the new pack animations.

EA would like to thank all the stupid idiots who will be buying their half finished game without question, like it's a rights of passage.

I'm shocked how much vitriol there is for a game that has taught my kids how to trade using complex data.
In fact I have told them if they like doing that so much become traders in the city. I know it's selling their souls but they can buy them back when they are loaded in their 30s.
Is this fake or does it really work ?

Your kids play FUT so I assume they spend a fair amount of money on FIFA points for FIFA packs? If so then yes this is a good deal. You get the game 3 days early and £70+ worth of packs over 20 weeks.
