Desktop amplifier designed to match up to the Fiio E7 Portable Amplifier. Must be a mis-price as still £68.40 on the AdvancedMP3Players website and is around that price everywhere else. Buy it quick!

Manufacturer's Description
The FiiO E9 desktop headphone amplifier offers truly stunning audio performance and versatility.

The E9's sleek and modern form factor, while minimalist in apperance, belies the engineering marvel within. The E9 has exceptionally low noise and distortion, providing enough power to drive the most demanding headphones up to 600 Ohms with excellent dynamics and clarity.

The FiiO E9 also serves as a dock for the FiiO E7 USB DAC and portable amp. When combined, the E9 and E7 becomes a seamless high fidelity audio interface for any computer, allowing noisy internal sound cards in computers and laptops to be bypassed. With both a fixed and a volume controled line level output, the E9 functions well as a pre-amp for driving power amps or active monitors.

Just ordered, thanks
Must be a mistake, surely! Ordered.
Ordered. Thanks.

Awesome. Hopefully they will honour this price.
Great price.

Thanks just ordered. What is it?

That's the problem with posting this type of product; not many people know what it is so it never gets hot. It bypasses the amplifier and sound processing circuitry inside a computer or laptop, which is almost invariably cheap, and uses it's higher quality components instead to produce better sound reproduction and clarity (i.e. it's an amplifier (_;)) Another plus is that it also allows greatly increased volume, if this was previously a problem. This particular one also has a dock for the Fiio E7Portable Amplifier, which charges it and apparently increases sound quality from the E9 when in use together.

It's $28 on Amazon.com as well from multiple sellers. Not sure what's going on - some kind of clearout?
Thanks OP, sweet deal. Anyone know what this is like as a dock and then lined into hifi?
Damn. I bought this the other day at double the price. Amazon also had the E7 at £40 for a day.
Thanks OP, HOT and ordered. Wondering if it will work with my mix amp. Soon find out.
Darn darn darn. There were 2 left but site went wonky at checkout and now back to £69.99.

Heading off to the US tomorrow so will try to get one delivered to the hotel. Can anyone who has this confirm it is a 12v or similar input so the adaptor will maybe be multivoltage?
Ah 15v power in. Hope it is a 110-240v adaptor!

Probably some new Fiio E9S or something coming out, Fiio seem to do this a lot.

Never used this, but the E7 and E5 are both awesome.
I think someone mentioned in the e7 thread that the e7 was being replaced (or maybe they said the e9 was getting replaced). Either way, A good amp is still a good amp even if it does get replaced by a fancier model. I probably can't afford the headphones that you would need to tell the two apart anyway!

Quite possibly, although it doesn't seem to be reduced anywhere else in the UK at the moment for some reason. I guess, for those whom may eventually miss out on this, it would be worth keeping an eye on prices around in case it does plummet suddenly in the near future. I do think £24.99 is as low as it will go though.

nice
Still available at £25, just check the other sellers. AdvancedMP3 is listed at both prices
Oh! Refreshed and it showed £69.99 from SAI but had "NEw from £24.99" so went in and managed to buy from AMP3! I have also ordered a $24.99 US one so will let both orders run their course and see which turns up.

The E7 is due to be upgraded to the E17 but not sure when that is out or if it will work with the E9. E7 is a great bit of kit so a cheap E9 will go nicely with it thank you very much!

Cheers OP!
Why expired?. It says it's still in stock
Yes unexpire as still able to buy...
Just click the report/spam link, click other, write to have it unexpired. Still available at £24.99.
Wow. Great price for this!

Please unexpire someone...

Ordered, thanks op!
all gone
well hopefully the ones in the US don't disappear as they are my backup if not shipped, as I don't want to buy two. Also at current exchange rate $28 is less that £18 VAT limit, so should not incure any extra costs. The weird thing with the Amazon US one is that the same companies selling it for $28 (there are a few) are also selling it at $90+ further down. Not sure if it is some automatic matching thing or something else, but it does seem very odd.

Gutted i missed this one.

Damnit, missed.
I don't believe it. Been after one for months, my E7 doesn't quite cut it.
Argh!
I'm using M-Audio Fast Track Pro mainly for better sound quality from PC.
Am I right saying that this tiny device would be great replacement

This is just an amp and has no DAC built in so you would probably need to get the E7 instead. Otherwise you will just be amping up the signal from the headphone socket/ line-out from your PC. There are some proper audio buffs on here so they will probably be able to advise you better.

I got this the other day and agree with this comment. There is no discernible DAC in this item - just an an amp for high impedance headphones. Don't expect miracles if you use it with earphones or low impedance headphones. It is more or less a nice cradle for the E7.
One niggle with it is that it won't charge the E7 just from the power adapter supplied. You have to attach a usb cable to your computer and in the end of the E9 and power it on. Silly design issue, but there it is.

I bought this earlier today thinking that it was an amp+DAC but it was such a good deal that I may just wait for the E7 to drop to sub £40 and take the plunge. £65 would be a good price for a good quality headphone amp/ DAC combo. It will go well with my 600ohm headphones that I also yet to buy.
Yes the E7 is a portable DAC/Amp for use connected by USB to the PC with both sections in use or for portable use as an amp only. By connecting the E7 to the E9 you get the E7s DAC working with a more powerful amp for larger home headphone use.

If you want a DAC to a different amp then you want the E7 with the L7 connector that just lets the E7 work as a DAC with line out for connecting to another amp.

Damn,

Damn,

I wouldn't worry about it too much. I have a feeling that none of us will be getting this because the seller, Advanced mp3 players, now has it up on Amazon for £70. That combined with the similar pricing that was available in the states for a short period makes me think it was some kind of glitch. We will see.

Check your email again in about 10mins. My order status said the same until just now when my cancellation email arrived.
Yep your right...

We are sorry to say that Amazon have mistakenly combined our listing for the FiiO E9 with that of the FiiO D3 so the price quoted was for the D3, hence being much cheaper than would normally be the case. The cause of this error was a technical glitch with the Amazon system. We have contacted them and they have acknowledged the flaw and corrected it. Unfortunately, your order was placed before the error was noticed. We are unable to ship your order at this time as the price paid is well below the cost price for the E9.

Unfortunately, Amazon have been unable to provide a solution that would allow your order to be fulfilled and have asked us to cancel this order immediately. Your payment card has not been charged as this is only done when the order is shipped.

We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused by this error which was unfortunately beyond our control. We have asked Amazon to contact you themselves to explain the situation and await their response.

I'll see if the US order gets fulfilled.
Shame they couldn't through us a £10 off if we re-order or something. Hey ho.
yep got the cancellation email. Nice and polite, no issues from me as given the price change in the states it looked like a mis-price. You Win some you lose some.
