thanks ichatwin looks amazing i dont quite understand the unit however done a search and its 450 500 in most places
Do you require an amp for this as have an X3 and don't use one, but just bought one anyway , an amp is £ 89 , it is a bargain.
Had my eye on a third gen X5... wish that was £268.
Not sure about the modular amps, that's another £90 to spend before you can listen to any music

bloody hell thanks sambat will expire hope a couple got that cheaper price
Just found out this info ,,, With the release of AM2, AM5 and AM0 and the feedbacks of end users, we now release the X7 standard edition (without amp module) offering the choice for the users to choose the most favorite amp modules to match the X7.

Therefore, in the transient period, the following two editions of X7 will be on the market at the same time:
1. X7 bundling with the IEM module AM1: It will be available until the stocks run out. And the AM1 will available for order soon with the other amp modules.
2. X7 Body Only (Without amp module): Please kindly note that the X7 Standard Edition is without any amp module, only with one protective stopper at the bottom, which means it can’t be used for listening music nor charging. So before buying it, please kindly choose an extra amp module you like most to bundle with the X7 body.

That would give you charge/DAC functionality (on a computer). Cheapest amp module is an AM1 (£50) which would be great for earphones.

If I got an AM1 it's OK for earphones, but if I got a more powerful one say a AM5 would it blow up my Bose earphones , sorry still on a learning curve , only had an X3 2nd gen for about 4 weeks which needs no amps.

The best deal at the moment for the X5iii is with Advanced MP3.

£389.00 - 10% using (AMP30) = £350.10

then 6.6% Cashback through Quidco = £326.99

I just purchased the Titanium one.

Yeah that's the best deal I've found so far, fairly close to £300 if Quidco pays out.
Usually listen to headphones through my desktop DAC/Amp but it would be handy to have a good quality portable.

The Fiio DAPS have a great sound but they are a little buggy with the firmware.

I have the X5ii and it sounds amazing, so I find it hard to believe that an Astell&Kern is 10x better considering it is 10x the cost. After about 5 pairs of headphones I discovered that the Fiio paired with the B&O H6 is the perfect partnership.

This new X5iii is supposed to deliver a whole new level of sound so I cannot wait for it too arrive in the next couple of days.
