Filing Cabinet - £33.00 instore Staples (but this trick works on all products)

If you're thinking about buying ANYTHING from Staples then read this first. These are currently £54.99 in store at Staples but if you tell them you've seen them at £35.00 on-line (on their own site) they'll price match it and give you 10% of the difference. This means you get them for £33.00 and don't have to wait in for delivery. Even at £54.99 it's one of the cheapest filing cabinets around so I thought at £33.00 it was well worth a mention. The store assistant advised this is their policy on all of their products so if you're planning on buying something from store check the on-line price first and should there be any price difference then there could be some good savings to be had. Hope it helps.

Don't want anything at the moment-but what brilliant information, well done!

I am sorry, but won;t they simply check their website and see they are not the price you say? I would like a filing cabinet and looking, but cannot see any for that price? And if they do check, then they will simply not honour that??

Right you are!

Lol why do they beat their own price by 10%?
Nice one OP

Seems a bit odd that they would beat their own price by 10%, surely that's an error by the sales person you spoke to? Nothing about the 10% extra off either:

As far as I am aware that has always been staples in-store price promise. The link you have is the online promise. Have managed to get some good deals over they years especially on higher value goods, monitors and printers etc. They match not only their online price but also local stores within a certain radius.

Excellent spot.

Though I expect them to alter this soon once the mass of people from here start exploiting the loophole.

Just so everyone knows, it's not JUST the staples website they price match with. The matched product must come from a physical retailer such as Tesco or John Lewis, but also Amazon (has to be sold by amazon). You cannot price match things that are branded staples products with other retailers.

Also if you price match something under £36 they have to charge you a £3.48 delivery charge, this is due to the website having free delivery over £36. Silly policy, I know.

Where is loophole?

This is simply a way of getting people into the store to buy more once there (or so they hope).
