FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE is a reimagining of the iconic original game that re-defined the RPG genre, diving deeper into the world and its characters than ever before. The first game in this project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience that provides a great starting point to the series.

The world has fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet's very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra's elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic consequences that await him.

A spectacular reimagining of one of the most visionary games ever, the first game in this project will be set in the eclectic city of Midgar and presents a fully standalone gaming experience. Along with unforgettable characters and a powerful story,

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE features a hybrid battle system that merges real-time action with strategic, command-based combat. First released in 1997 on the PlayStation® computer entertainment system, FINAL FANTASY VII is universally regarded as a hallmark title of the RPG genre. The original title received high praise for its epic storyline, unique characters, and movie sequences that utilized the most cutting-edge technology of the time.

Since then, the game has sold over 11 million copies worldwide and continues to receive widespread acclaim from critics and fans around the world. The popular game has even expanded into spin-offs, films, and merchandise.

The remake was announced following years of rumors and fan requests. Four key staff members returned to help with Remake: original character designer Tetsuya Nomura returned as both director and main character designer, original director Yoshinori Kitase acted as producer, and Kazushige Nojima returned to write new material. Due to the scale of the project, the team decided to release Remake as two discs so no original content would be cut. They also decided to add new content and adjust the original character designs to balance between realism and stylization.

I really like the steelbook in the deluxe edition. Unfortunately I can only see Game have it for £79.99
My Amazon preorder made in 2017 was for £42.85 but thinking the extras are worth the fiver so will probably cancel it when end was finally in sight for the poor thing
The chocobo summon is available for every preorder. Only the acrylic stand is different in this deal and price is still great. Heat added
Man, I'm so tempted to buy a PS4 just for this.

Would you pay £5 for a dlc summon - let alone one that's obviously not going to get used? Plus the 'stand' is 4cm and just sounds really random and also has no value.

Shopto might end up bringing the price down though so I guess just keep an eye out.
Any idea of final release date?
Got mine from Very a couple of weeks ago using the £30 of £60 voucher, got this and Burnout Paradise Remastered for £39 in total, otherwise i might have gone for this.

It's absolutely devastating they aren't (currently) releasing this for the Xbox community. Considering that a large portion of their fanbase diverted to either console.
Bear in mind this game is being released in in parts over years. So your buying about a 1/3rd of the original game.

I think it'll probably end up on Xbox once all the parts are released.
it's funny since Chinese sellers started to produce and sell Acrylic stands/figures that r anime/games themed now more and more publishers adding them as extras...Cheap and easy way to ad some merch

Agreed. It'll probably end up on Xbox, but probably not for a long time

Yeah, but each part is greatly expanded beyond the scope of the original. More storyline, more gameplay, more everything, pretty much. The only thing you're really getting 1/3 of is the overall storyline in its most basic form. I'm much more interested in that than a simple HD remaster, personally.

I had a £50 off £100 at very, but decided against the pre-order. Who knows if very will be around next year (I take that stance with most retailers) so went for the £50psn top up instead. Got rid of the games I bought as well, so ended up costing me £14

In 50 years time then..
Any news on FF7R PS4 console?

Ahh i didn't know about the top ups, may buy one of those in future if don't have any games to buy. I actually wanted the physical edition so i'm all good, will be selling Burnout for a tenner so it should bring me down to £29.

I’ll definitely be getting a physical edition of ffvii, prob the delux, I have 1st soldier in order but over £250 is a lot I think, especially as the figure is in a separate box
i am not going to buy this game until all parts are released and its bundled. I find it disgraceful that they split up the story (no confirmation how many parts there are going to be) also in the original game this part was very small part of the game you could finish it in 3-5 hours depending on if you actually explored the area and talked to people (considering the main story was about 40 hours, this means we are getting 1/8 of the whole story). Yet they somehow stretched this to a full game, to me it feels like the hobbit, they stretched this really small book to 3, 3 hour movies. Its going to be a lot of filler i think. This feels like there trying to offset the complete failure and waist of money on the previous remaster version which was scrapped and would have been the complete story.

I am not 100% sure the sales will be amazing on this, it might but there stuff working against it being a sale success, Its going to be hard to get new people to invest in the story as your only selling 1/8 of the story people will be put off and say i will wait till its all released. So your main source of income will be the established fan base, same problem here people will wait. Yes there will be a massive group who buy it straight up but will that be large enough to justify the cost, not sure.

Also what happens if they don't meet the sales target are they just not going to continue develop the game anymore so we are stuck with 1/8 of the story

Don't get me wrong i love FFVII i have bought it about 7 times already since it original release and i was thinking of buying it again for the switch last. But not inclined to buy the remake if they don't bring out the whole story, so i will wait prob another 10 years until the complete story is out and released on PS5

March 3rd 2020 for this part (midgar only )

I was thinking the same but I’m guessing the other parts of the game will be on ps5 which is going to be backwards compatible. So I’ll wait and just get a ps5 to play them all.

More likely to come out around November-December alongside Xbox Scarlett as FF7R Enhanced edition. They only said it was play first on PS4
