Cheapest price it's been since launch. Apparently it's a lot better than XIII. Might be worth it at this price!

Think quite a few will buy at this price. Been seeing 'I'll wait until it's under £17.99' etc comments on every single thread for this game.
great price heat added
Just bought 7 pre owned games from GAME for 28 quid as well as Deus Ex on eBay for 5 quid after the 5 pound eBay offer so I think I can wait until FF XIII-2 is going for a fiver :P
Haha, just about the tight price!

I hope that Square Enix will learn from the FFXIII & FFXIII-2 experience, sack the director and return the series to old form from XIV .
Its a good game. But I liked FF13 aswell. Pretty similar TBH.
Won't let me checkout with paypal.
we bought it and it's crap but not game!
money in a bin!
wow this really has plummeted in price!

£14.99/£9.99 squads are waiting in the wings to pick up the slack.

Don't forget the £4.99 squad. As a member of that squad, I'd wonder why anyone would buy this game now. Yes, it is the best price now but wait two weeks and it will be even cheaper.

XIV is out, it's that mess of an MMO that's currently being entirely re-designed before the PS3 release.
Normally £17.99 would have been my biting point, but this has dropped so fast I'm holding out for £12.99.. Shan't be long now
Really really tempted, excellent service at Shopto as well.

The funny thing is, this was meant to be 'old-style' and there were lots of details such as (wait for it) a world map and controllable vehicles. This was the case from 2005 to 2008. Then the announcement that it was coming to Xbox happened. I had a gut feeling something bad would happen and I was right. Scrap Xbox development and go PS3 only - look at those exclusives, they are miles ahead of anything on Xbox.

Yes that's right, it's all xbox fault. PS3 rule, xbox suck, bloody M$ !!

I was hoping for an objective discussion not another console flame war, thank you.

Oh yes, I forgot about this. Well, says all about it really doesn't it

Here's hoping for a proper franchise restart from XV then.
I'm going to have to get this as the limited edition one from Game doesn't look as if it's coming
tbh I think all the simplifications in FFXIII were very welcome. JRPGS have accumulated a lot of unnecessary fat over the years and FFXIII was delightfully lean and modern.

So it was linear. All FF games are: they just give the illusion of freedom when in fact there's only one path you can follow to progress the story.
Yes I for one loved that you didn't really need to grind and all of the characters got the same experience whether they were in a fight or not. Persona 4 is considered to be one of the best RPGs of all time and nobody complained about that being linear.
Being linear was only part of the problem with FFXIII, the main problem (imo) was a complete lack of difficulty. Spamming auto-attack and occasionally switching to a paradigm with a medic was enough to win almost every battle (apart from some of the ce'ith stone missions). Unfortunately XIII-2 seems to be the same, although I'm only half way through so perhaps it will get harder.

Still good games, definitely worth £17, they're just not as good as VII-X.

There were multiple difficulty levels you could choose you know and itwas about how fast you could finish the fights by doing them properly, you were rated on your performance after each battle.
On the hardest difficulty you can still 5-star most battles without any thought by spamming auto attack.

Not in my experience...
Enjoyed FFXIII and so far I'm enjoying this. Hope they don't listen to the small minority of diehard fanboys and go back to the borefest of previous FF games.
I'll wait a bit longer as well.. But I might need something after a few plays with Mass Effect3 (_;)
Hold out guys! Don't be tempted just yet! It'll be rock bottom soon enough.

I hope SE are proud of trading in their loyal fans for idiots like this guy.

ENJOY YOUR NEW FANBASE SE, KEEP FEEDING THEM GARBAGE, TAKE THE EASY ROUTE!
My understanding was that single player only games dropped sub £20 really quickly as second hand games have all the features of a brand new copy making the trade ins worth more. but then they hold tight for a fair while above the £15 mark.
Done my 50 hours with this game after getting it for the last deal at £17.99.

Heres what you'll want to know:

- Much less linear than XIII, like a totally different way of working (I didnt follow the main plot too closely, and had nearly 100% by the time I got to the ending story)
- Very similar battling system, although using monsters instead of a third party member was a nice change (Paradigm system is much the same, although you can level up one pathway and eliminate the need for tactics in battles - the only "real" paradigms I used were to beat difficult bosses etc) Challenge isn't very high although still provides entertainment if you want playtime per pound.
- Story isn't exactly an epic beyond any other but I was much more satisfied with it than the one in the previous game and it made sense in the end.

All in all if you consider how much playtime you'll get if you like this kind of game I think £16.85 is worth it, but you might as well wait it out if you're not sure.

Wow, that makes sense!

I enjoyed FFXIII and got 130 hours out of FFXIII-2.

I would recommend FFXIII-2 at twice this price

13 and 13-2 are both good games and because of the style of game i wont compare them to older FF games and considering alot of the guys at Squaresoft work for diff companys now (under microsoft hence Lost Odyssey) Since going Square-Enix theyve become to big for their boots and cant fill them.

To be fair anything past FF9 they tried to modernise and with 10 it worked but everything else has been pretty average as a FF game such a shame.
