This is a good price in comparison to the release price.
But this game is heavily flawed - AVOID!

Hiromichi Tanaka sent members an email stating:
First of all, I would like to apologize for our inability to fully satisfy our users with the initial release of FINAL FANTASY XIV. I take full responsibility for the game$B!G(Bs current situation, and have therefore made the decision to step down from my role as producer. A number of concerns that have been voiced by users, such as the design of the user interface, availability of tutorials and game content, and battle system functionality, represent key issues that must be addressed. While improvements are already well underway in many areas, we were unfortunately not able to incorporate player feedback as quickly as we would have liked. We are aware, however, that in many cases, addressing these issues will call for a reworking of game elements. As these changes are our first priority, they will be commanding our full attention and efforts. It is to that end that we have put a new organizational structure into place for the development team. Under this new system, FINAL FANTASY XIV will see changes and additions in line with the desires and expectations of players. Though no longer producer, I will be continuing to support the development team in other capacities, and personally hope that you will continue your adventures in the realm of Eorzea.

BAD TIMES!

this any good?

this any good?

Nope! In fact it's terrible.

Graphics are great, but thats where the story ends, pretty much everything else fails.
And thats coming from a FF fan.

I'd wait until later next year to see if they can fix this turkey.

The game is bad, but it's still decent and for £7.99 it's good value considering it will remain free for a while.

It's bad but it's decent?

When are they going to realise that the fans want a return to the massive story, the customisable characters, party members you can swap, simple magic systems, and world maps to explore?

The moment they have a return to form, I can almost guarantee that the fans would lap it up in the millions.

I'll just issue a large sigh here, and leave it at that. *SIGH*

Amen.

Im craving for a FF7 release on the PS3 but am afraid they will mess it up.

dtovey - good to see someone else on my wavelength
Quietus - I totally agree.

Rewrite FF7 - bigger story, better sound and graphics, more puzzles....

It'd be one of the biggest selling RPGs, if not games, of all time. Squaresoft must know this. I find it difficult to imagine why it's not been done.

I'm just thinking of the FF7 tech demo that came out with the launch of the PS3. That was supposedly all generated real-time, so there is definitely power in a PS3, and PCs have improved massively over the last 3-4yrs...

It's a damn shame that this game in particular is very very poor. Square Enix really needs to start coming up with something for its Western customers as many have perceived both FF13 and 14 to be pretty rubbish.

I would love nothing more than a remake of FF7, but the way they're going at the moment means they'd likely just mess it up. The tech demo we were treated to was rather nice but I fear that no publisher in their right mind would touch an FF7 remake without making it multiplatform, thus sacrificing *some* of the graphical quality. In the end, it could have all the graphics in the world, but the story and combat are far more crucial. Those are two aspects that Square have got totally wrong of late.

Brought this a few days ago to use the 30 days free trial but due to its issues the free trial has been extended so I probably put more time into this.

I think I read a while ago when the PC version was released that the PS3 version was going to be free to play not sure if true or a rumour, so I will be waiting for the PS3 version.

Only MMORPG that I paid for and will never pay again was WOW, 2 years of my life never again. Paid and spend too much money and time on that game.
