find lost android phone.
free app that uses phone gps to show you on a pc with Google maps where your lost or stolen phone is. Also they will text you the coordinates to another phone for free if you text the lost phone a codeword.

I have tested it and it works great.

please dont write stupid comments about how iphones have this built in and it only works if the phone is still turned on blah blah blah

You have to pay for one of these apps for Symbian it's good to have though.

I'm an Android fan/user, but the iPhone find me thing writes the floor with this, always handy to have it installed though, and pray you never need it!

i`ll give this a go...thanks.

This is installed on the phone which is lost/stolen .... how does it work?

Doesnt lookout do this?

Search Play Store for 'Plan B' .. Similar.

BTW some Samsung phones have a pretty good anti-theft system built in, you can track, lock, unlock, wipe, ring, forward calls/messages and check call logs from Samsung Dive. You just need to have a samsung account linked to your device.

See here: samsungdive.com/Div….do

Best ones is Avast anti-theft hands down. Next best is as fluidz mention "Plan B" in the case where you can install it on your phone after its been lost/stolen

Track your errant partner?

There are a bunch of these apps for Android.

Personally I use Android Lost (play.google.com/sto…ils?id=com.androidlost) - it's free and very very powerful.

Android Lost is brilliant

sadly it didn't work when I tried it on a galaxy ace, so I ended up buying Cerberus

do you not think it would be a good idea to put the name of the App in the title ?????

Track your errant partner?

What? That makes no sense at all.

Maybe you meant to ask

'Could this be used to track an errant partner?'. Or maybe you meant 'This could be used to track an errant partner' and the question mark was an error. Please clarify the intent of your statement/question.

Thanks

Was neither a question or advice - merely a suggestion - quite obvious i think.
But thank you for going to all that effort for querying what no one else thought to ask!

It was pretty obvious to me what you meant.

Well what's it called then???

I think Cerberus is the best although it ain't free

great idea for an app, shame it doesn't work, phone says commander is linked but computer says it isn't have tried both accounts. rubbish

COLD! GPS always has to be ON. Txt doesnt trigger GPS to ON.
and, having GPS always ON spends battery.

GPS enabled does not mean GPS on. GPS will turn on when needed if it is enabled.

Just wanna know if your phone is stolen and you track it do the POLICE become involved as I wouldn't wanna confront Mr little hood rat and his accomplices to get my phone back!!!

I'm sure a saw a TV program where a load of old phones were tracked to Africa?

just saw that on tv the other day, coppers following a couple while getting gps locations over the radio :P
but yeah location is never 100% accurate, last time i used it it gave me a 70m radius, which meant i could be anywhere in my block of houses. turned out to be in the car parked in front...

I think this is handy if eg you LOSE your phone in the park or something but surely even if it WAS 100% accurate they wouldn't advise you to CONFRONT the thieves would they???

It might be a brave thing to do especially if you are angry but I ended up in hospital because I confronted the person who stole my phone when I saw him at a later date & he nearly broke my nose

I think its an ok app was playing around with the commands through my iPad

Apple and android working harmoniously who would have thought.....

wouldn't your phone have to be rooted for any of these to work properly? If the phone's been stolen and it's not rooted, the thief could just do a factory reset and wipe the app from the phone. I use Avast but don't have my phone rooted, so I haven't set up the anti-theft part.

Any advice would be welcome.

my phone isn't rooted and this works, also you can't go through the pin code to do the factory reset

great freebie.
however as i have a samsung, i'll use the samsung tracker.

can anyone explain...in english how this works please.
just got my first android phone and i`m new to all these apps...oh and old!

Just downloaded but how do you track on map as it says......what do you have to do to view this please...

Lookout works fine for me. It's free and has antivirus.

Samsung app is pants. Keeps giving me some crap about interruptions in gps signal. Lookout find it in seconds. I'll stick with lookout

Does your sim card need to be in the phone for this to work? What if the thief takes out your sim, will it work then?
