In what way are they terrible then ?

Finlux it is the main brand name for vestel.
I would not hesitate to buy it but the same might cost less as a Hitachi or Bush when on sale from argos. I own the 43" hitachi and using as a monitor, an incredible set.

This TV will do 8K via a software update, Finlux announced they will be the first manufacturer to offer it at CES.

Until that time it will continue to deliver a mediocre 4k image.

it comes automatic already as soon you plug an usb 3.0 dongle with 8k contents. Try to believe

I have the hitachi version (probably the same as miaomiaobaubau). Using it as a monitor 4k at 60hz, with 4:4:4 chroma with HDR on, it's fantastic.

The on board software / hardware is not so good though.

how do you upgrade to 8k straight away on this, it's coming tomorrow

Is it right that it only has 1 HDMI port?

From Finlux website - "You'll also be pleased to hear that this Ultra HD Smart TV has 4 HDMI 2.0 ports supporting HDCP 2.2 so you can connect all your devices that are able to produce UHD content"

£499.99 on Finlux website and says only 2 left in stock

Hold out I see better brands on the way but this is a good deal I tried to post it here too for members to see

Been looking around for a new TV for the bedroom. Missed all the Hisense deals, is there any reason not to get this one? I would be attaching a PC to it, and watch Netflix so the 4K features would be nice to haves rather than must haves

I thought that from the pictures but the spec seem to imply 4 HDMI

ahahah,HDR, I can easily believe it does 8k but no HDR. Anyway can confirm chroma 4-4-4 at 4k 60hz on all 4 hdmi sockets, the good makes do still live in the past, if you lucky you get 1 or 2 hdmi 2.0 and the rest 1.4. Crystal clear picture when in use with the PC, far better than a monitor, just like having an 8k in terms of picture quality with the pc. Cannot feel any lag etc... with games despite it is behind 45m/s(on reliable camera speed test) than my best smaller monitor. Not using as a tv but I can say that software it is good to me and fast response, you might have a slow internet maybe. Picture quality better than a rubbish rrp£2500 4k Panasonic I had until 6 months ago and was returned as it was all factory malfunctioning apart from the rubbish standard and HD picture

You get a 2 year warranty on this with Amazon (Consumer Act 2016) so even if it failed after the 2 years, big brands will be so much cheaper in 2 years for HDR 4k sets, maybe even OLED. I need to buy a new TV in the next couple of weeks but i need a decent response time for gaming. otherwise i might consider one of these.

Prime only deal

here a better deal in my opinion, same reliable vestel screen and no prime involved:

...

How does that work then? Since the TV only has 3840 x 2160 pixels. How they magically gonna display 7680 x 4320 without changing the hardware?

any idea how one ups it to 8k comrades?

Describing them as crap is an understatement I've got one a few yard ago and regret not getting a decent brand. He sounds awful and the picture is mediocre

You can't, The_Hoff was trolling and his post should be removed.

Finlux TVs prone to problems. Mine developed lines on the display after 9 months.

For anyone knocking finlux, I've got three of their TVs, and also have an LG and I can't tell the difference in terms of picture quality. They are superb value for money.

We have had a 32" 3D Finlux for 18 months (Cost less than £200) - no problems whatsoever - Passive 3D excellent(8 pairs of glasses included!!). Picture whilst not brilliant is pretty good after playing with settings. As a second TV for teenager it is very good value and no problems with lag on gaming etc. What do people expect for the price which is great value. People on here who says these are crap are the people who are comparing models costing twice as much - a bit like comparing a bmw to a ford focus. We all know a bmw is better but we cant all afford to buy one so we buy a ford focus which is perfectly acceptable for the money! A few people on here need to get real - this is a great deal at £299. At £499 it wouldn't be such a good deal.

here, here Juan!! I picked up the finlux 55inch 4k 3d set during prime day for 439quid! Which in my opinion is a superb deal for a TV of this ilk regardless of manufacturer.......If I ain't happy, I'll simply return it as it was fulfilled by Amazon.......and do I really need 4k and hdr?......I haven't before and still quite like good old 1080p.....certainly looks good on my 32 inch 3d set......I just wanted a big set with 3d......love a bit of 3d.....fact it has 4k is a bonus, and until BBC etc start transmitting in 4k I ain't bothered......You can really see how the main manufacturers have taken us for a ride....the cost of a 1080p set at launch compared to that of a LARGE 4k set is astounding......However, I won't deny that 4k looks lush.......nighty night everyone
