Found this cheap 500GB hard disc Freeview HD receiver/recorder for what I think is the lowest price it's ever been. Some reviews suggest it's twin tuner and some say not so I don't know (might be a single tuner that can record two programmes if they're on the same multiplex perhaps?) - anyhoo, for £35 delivered it seems like it might be useful.

Thanks. I'll try to find out if this is twin or not.
People say you can record 2 programmes but you have to watch one of them.

Unless your TV has its own tuner to tune to a 3rd channel while this box is recording two others. That's how my elderly Thomson PVR works, anyway.
Loads of bt youview boxes on eBay you can get 1tb uhd, they are not great though do dual record. They have annoying tile based system for organising recordings but basically functional Humax box

Had mine for about 2 years and it's been fantastic, love the app that sends your reservations to the box.

They're good for recording. I quite like the EPG on them. But they STILL require hard wired internet. No wifi support. So no catchup unless you can easily run ethernet to it. Which is what put me off picking one up.

Just buy a wifi repeater with a ethernet socket, about £10.

An absolutely rock solid Humax/BT 500GB box (def two tuners) plus all the catchup players and remote record by Android etc £35 with 2yr warranty or total £36.50 delivered uk.webuy.com/pro…00b
Optional catchup & remote record requires web connection; the FV tuners don't (unless you want the FV channels served by web).

I use an old sky repeater which is plugged in next to my BT box, giving it an internet connection.
We have 2 of the BT boxes, they have been great for us. One is probably 3 years old with the other about 2 years old.
