Yep, Finlux has had nothing to do with Finland since the early 90s. Today it's just a name and their TVs are sold exclusively to the UK (not even Finland!). Don't fall for their marketing, they are just cheap Chinese made TVs.

spannerzone

indeed, these bare no relation to Finlux from the 1980's - 1990's that were fairly high spec TV's made in Finland sadly. They are essentially the same as budget Toshiba's, Sharps, Hitachi's, Bush's, Technika's and most other budget price LCD's on the market. For around £200 this would be a bargain but £300 gets nearer to the Panasonic's which will almost certainly be better.

Saintledger

There was a deal for a 32" Sharp, £1 cheaper and a much better option imo Also if you don't mind referbs Argos and tesco outlets on ebay and some great deals on 32" sets with 12 month warrentys

iscom

There are a lot choices of Good 32" TVs out there you really have to sit down and study then try go and see the set if possible then when you know what TV you want, then look and wait for the right price . . this is what I did after looking for a few weeks for a good 3D set I found one .a 47" LG 3D LED TV for the fabulous price of £365 inc delivery

Nothing Finnish about Finlux nowadays, they're owned by Vestel and manufacture their kit in Turkey.

That's what's holding me back on the whole Finlux range. But I don't think the deal is cold, not that I vote.

ramraideruk

No Freeview HD. Cold for me.

jasonburrows

I saw a press advert for this last week. Its a big TV, but its passive 3D which is good from a glasses cost perspective, but not as great for a wider viewing angle. It comes with 8 pairs tho, so a pretty good deal. I like their website and seen decent product reviews arounds. Let me know if you get one.

LongPockets

Lots of Finlux deals have been posted here, and there are generally good reviews all over Amazon etc. Finlux do passive 3D and always include a bunch of 3D glasses with their TVs.

Monkey.nuts.2

Sorry perhaps that post wasn't so clear. I mean, I have my PC connected to my current TV. That makes most additional features offered by the TV itself useless. PS3 also has any and all SMART tv features. 360 is not far behind. A jailbroken Apple TV can run XBMC. I didn't mean we have so many items that have individual features, I mean we have so many items that each contain ALL features found on SMART tvs. Unless of course I am missing something, feel free to correct me. EDIT: I realise most people don't have an actual computer hooked up

Hanonymouse

Surely that's exactly WHY you DO understand the need for a SMART tv? I have a Roku XD, Logitech Revue (Google TV) and WDTV Live Hub connected to mine - would love to be able to do all that on the TV and not on separate devices.

Vegito

Hmm, you can get a Freeview HD box (maybe not a GREAT one, but play sell one that includes i-player for 27.99) for £30. I don't understand the need for having a SMART tv, but maybe that is because I have so many other devices hooked up to my tv that do the same job. So £50 more for a slightly smaller, but LED set, maybe worth it to some. What brand is the one you talk of?

RickT

I would go for the LED one @ £389, ok its a 40 inch TV but its a SMART one with Freeview HD.

LED backlit for the Finlux and Flourescent for the Sony.... LED backlighting doesn't necessarily mean it's better, it's just means thinner and less power consumption. They still used LCD as the display, the LED bit just refers to the method to illuminate the LCD panel. I'd still got for the Sony vs Finlux or any Vestel rebadged TV

vespatroy

The Sony TV mentioned is LCD. The Finlux is an LED.

spannerzone

20 years ago and I'd agree :D Finlux brand is now owned by Vestel and made in their Turkish factory along with budget Toshiba's and other budget brands. They used to be quality TV's made in Finland, in 1992 Nokia bought them and continued to sell Finlux TV's made in Finland, then after a couple years Nokia got rid of them, then another company had a go with the brand and failed then Vestel bought the name. After that they became yet another name stuck onto budget LCD's from the 3rd largest TV maker in the world, Vestel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finlux

these im sure are made in finland. i had an older crt set some years back and then they were very expensive and considered the rolls royce of tvs. cant say more than that im afraid

I bought this just after Christmas when it was on sale. Since buying it I keep seeing the same people posting comments about this brand, but no one with a proper review. So, I 'll give you my verdict... Excellent TV. It's a no-brainer brilliant deal. The built-in surround sound is far superior to my 2 year old 32" samsung tv and fills the room. 8) The 3d is stunning and it came with 3 pairs of glasses as well. Happy pappy now :p Someone mentioned a toshiba deal? Nowhere near as nice looking as this tv...
