Can anyone help me please?! Can you access YouTube, Snapchat Facebook etc on these. My kids broke their iPads and was thinking this may be a good and far cheaper alternative!

Of course these can do all of that but it's nowhere near the same spec as an ipad. But at 10% of the price...

You can add the full Google Play Store to get almost anything on it, but you need to "side load" it, its not that difficult, just takes a good few minutes...
Can you add more memory to these?
Thanks, that's good to know

They've been at £50 for last week or so online everywhere
What's this "with special offers" crap? You have to pay £10 more to not have it show adverts in sleep mode... what? That's crazy.

Just looked at the specs. £35 actually seems a little steep for 2013 low end specs.

Thanks.

These are ideal for kids. My daughter broke a couple of tablets but this one seems a bit more robust and has lasted her a year without issues. Plays mine craft fine and does all the social media without issue and much less of a trauma if she did break it.
any decent bumper shock proof case for fire 7 tablet dont wana spend too much.....thanks
To all, if you want Google play on it, you need 4 apks copying over from you pc to that tablet. Once copied over you have to install all 4 apks in right order. Check here howtogeek.com/232…et/ for guide. Got that tablet and Google play works fine. Thanks

Guess the disorganised have to pay more
Here’s a silly idea.
why don’t people just buy these along with a cheap stand?
hey presto an echo show for a thirdof the price.
i don't get why some of you are slating this so much, if you think of it for parts alone it's worth at least that, the Raspbery Pi fans particularly pay loads for touch enabled IPS screens and Li-ion batteries.
Personally i this is the perfect price range for "children's" tablets... until they've grown up to appreciate the "value" of things at least... lets face it, if we were all happy to replace a broken ipad every few months, we wouldn't really be on HUKD.

PS, protective case or not is a no-brainer too, gravity loves portable electronics!!!

i was thinking exactly that (or a mounted base) you could even connect it to your AV system and have her in your face through the room speakers to turn the lights on you don't want to reach.... i've seen loads of People with Dot's whinge about the sound.... they'd be better to remarket this as a smart-home controller with extra's.
Is this much of an upgrade to the last 7" Fire Tablet? Is the screen that much better that it warraents an upgrade?
Do i buy it now or wait for boxing day ??
not comparable to an iPad but if price is major factor then go for it. I picked one up during black friday last year and it sat in a drawer ever since - sold it for £30 last week on facebook so I actually made a few quid lol. it's certainly the best of the budget android tablets by far.
Can you download content from Netflix to the SD card? Had issues on my old Fire and could not get anything to save to sd

I thought the fire 8 has alexa built in?

That would give you voice command wouldnt it?
Will retailers match? I am thinking of getting one of these and flashing it to be used in a magic mirror build.

which goes to show how ipad users have been ripped off for years
My Fire HD 8" has Alexa built in, and I'm pretty sure she popped up on the 7" after an update too.

I installed the Play Store and thus all the Android apps I wanted on both tablets pretty easily, albeit it was a simpler process on the 8".

So I use my HD 8 mostly for Netflix

The Kids 8" tablet usually drops in price too, and that's guaranteed against kids accidentally dropping/smashing it -- making it a hugely better deal than any iPad.

I can't stand those no-brand cheapy tablers all the deal sites keep peddling. I've bought a few of those and they crash non stop, as they have so little memory, and the tiny drive is partitioned making it smaller than stated. These Amazon tablets are perfect for kids, and they won't be crashing and driving you nuts.
Please Amazon discount the 10 inch

Yes, simply because they upped the price in order to put it on sale, this has been available at £35 on and off since about June, almost literally one week on and one week off.... I was going to buy the missus one when it was £35, looked the day after and it was £50, a week later I bought it at £35, this was all on Amazon themselves, I posted the order above to prove it...

....it's simply marketing BS...

That could be Netflix restrictions, some apps do not let you download to an SD card that is installed as Storage rather than as Internal/System Memory, they do it to stop people copying films/games across where they don't have the rights to.

My wifes tablet downloads stuff to SD fine, that is formatted as Internal/System Memory.
My old Fire has stopped working as it got slightly wet...is there a way to get it back working or shall I throw it!
