and anyone who already has one and think they don't need this should check the use by date on theirs.. mine was out of date by 2 years... beat that!!

hot for me.. no pun intended

one for home and one for the car?

actually we have a fire blanket at home - doesn't go out of date and is more flexible - but they have those available too. Voted hot.

Nice price, voted hot.

How could anyone not vote a fire extinguisher hot ?? lol

Anyone know where to get a cheap CO2 one from?

Nice, been meaning to get a new one for ages, only thing is, my nearest Lidl is about 10 miles away which kinda negates it. Voted hot anyway.

Having recently been on a "Fire Marshall" course at my local fire training centre, then I would get the blanket only. IMO most home sized extinguishers are way to small to be any use whatsoever, as they simply don't have enough powder/foam/gas to smother and cool the fire sufficiently. They also encourage people to get stupidly brave and think they're a firefighter. Car ones are even worse, due to their size, but some insurance companies specify that you must carry one.
Advice I was given by the fire service was to have at least 2 smoke alarms, a fire blanket situated on the wall (not in a drawer) by the kitchen exit, and obviously a telephone to call the pros.

STANDARD OR MULTI-PURPOSE DRY POWDER … STANDARD OR MULTI-PURPOSE DRY POWDER Application The powder "knocks down" the flames. These are safe to use on most kinds of fire, but the multi-purpose powders are more effective, especially on burning solids. Standard powders work well only on burning liquids. Dangers

The powder does not cool the fire well.
Fires which seem out can reignite.
The powder doesn't penetrate small spaces, like those inside burning equipment.
The jet could spread burning fat or oil around.
How to use Aim the jet at the base of the flames and briskly sweep it from side to side.

Usefull I Admit.... But how bads your cooking.........giggle:

was looking for one of these when i installed power-hungry equipment into my car. It was around £14.99 then so this is a good deal. shame its a store only deal.

Cheers, prob get 1 and a blanket.

just wondering, at this price, would it be worth buying about 5 or 6 and having a fire extinguisher fight? or are they dangerous when used for fun ?

Lidl sell everything.

You need to get out more!
Without a fire extinguisher.

Good deall this. Well worth having at least one on every floor just in case...

I've voted this one cold.
Like one of the other posters, I've been on a fire marshalls training course.
The fire extinguiser on offer is of little worth, but will install over confidence in the person holding it.

If you discover a fire - get out, and call the fire brigade.
And then let the insurance mop up the damage.

Sorry to bear bad news but they can kill you! Also, as someone's already said, they make you brave and are not effective on anything other than the smallest fire if used appropriately.

E.

Not bad, but not as good as the 6kg one they done for 12.99 a while back - bargain!

Anything that may give you a few more seconds helping you escape out of a fire situation is worth it in my book. I'm not expecting this to take on a raging inferno - as you say leave it to the pros. Something is better than nothing definately.

Definite hot buy. Every home should have one.

Little monster #2 came home and unbeknown to us threw her coat onto the just used stove. Within a minute it was alight and I used our Kidde powder extinguisher on it. It make a hell of a mess with the powder but it hoovered up quickly.

They are more useful for fun than they are for actually putting out fires, especially when this small... =]

going to get one hopefully wont have to use it.

Steve McQueen and Paul Newman would roast yer Nuts if they read this.!!

Damn the 6litre one is the one to have

We live on the 4th floor of the house so this and a fireblanket is more about trying to get out on the house alive....

Dont forget to give it a good shake every few months otherwise the
powder settles and may not come out.

buy a couple of these and attach them to wheelchairs for racing

we bought 3 of these can never be 2 careful
