Sorry?

i only used my first first fire tablet last week and , for anyone who doesnt know, it merges your own books, music, apps and videos with suggestions and charts from amazon. i had no idea how invasive it was...if it was for me i would have returned it immediately as i dont expect my 'films to watch list' to be 20 adverts and only 5 recommended films from my own collection.

my other issue was that i bought the tablet for a 2 year old to use (for long car journeys replacing a knackered blackberry playbook). the fire comes with a built in kids profile but it ONLY WORKS WITH AMAZON CONTENT. while the 'adult' part of the tablet allows you to view your own films/apps/music kids mode does not. a complete waste for what i bought it for.

so when 'loathecliff' refers to the tablet as a 'elechronic shopping aid' thats exactly what it is. its not an android tablet by any strech of the imagination and frankly is more hassle to use as an android tablet than the playbook it replaced.

Tries to share apps? I shared vlc and Es file Explorer. Then copy the files with Es on my child's profile. Removed Es Explorer (bit dangerous for him to have) and job done
Would rather have something pure Android. Amazon's items are far too locked down and sideloading (like Kodi on a Fire TV stick) is a pita

Thanks i'll give that a try tonight.

are you just talking about being abke to copy video files for vlc or actual non-amazon apps..ie playstore apps. i'm not going to pay amazon for apps ive already paid google for.

I think at that age I either just looked out of the car window, did a bit of scribbling or fell asleep. Kids today eh

Sideloading kodi on a firestick is easy to do, watch a YouTube video and jobs a good un.
should be nationwide. I saw this in store in Ballymena a couple of days ago.
Ooooooo!!, I HOPE this goes the way of the Linx 8", & Linx 10" Tablets from 2+ Months back?.

Which started off at around £100-£150+?, then fell to about £80 odd pounds?, then FINALLY fell again!, to around £40!! (& all at Sainsburys too mind).

Hopefully in a short spell (Sainsburys 'Stocks' allowing ofcourse?), these Kindle 10 HD Tablets will also fall by the wayside & reduce in price like hell?!, hehehe.

Here's hoping ..... lol. :-)
Even if you could root this, the specs aren't great. Cold for me.
Anyone found any of these in a London based Sainsburys yet?, thanx. :-)
As someone who is an Amazon prime user and who uses Amazon a lot, I still don't think this is terrific value. Don't get me wrong it is not awful just "meh". The tablet should have always been about this price and as someone who already owns the 7" which is a handy little workhorse that I can afford to drop in a bag without worrying about it too much it does not have enough added value for the huge price jump especially as the specs are pretty average at best. Voted hot though as the saving is there if you are in the market for one.

Nope!, the reality is, as long as us lot (the 'Public') keep buying into it?, then .....

There's everyone's answer I guess?, lol.
