Amazon has a lot less interesting content for kids than Santa does. I ended up hacking a standard launcher on to it and sideloading the Google play store on to it. My little girl had no interest in the way the content was displayed and really just used the Netflix app and wasn't pleased she couldn't watch YouTube, so I sorted that for her.

Be careful with YouTube Ken, I've seen gore videos go under the radar and show up on there, that's one of the reasons why my niece's will be locked out of the semi-free android experience. I'll be loading a child friendly DNS on it too.
If they're not happy with angry birds and fruit ninja. I'll just tell them the elves want them back.

There's a lot, lot worse Ken. Google "Elsagate," and despite what it says, it still goes on. I'd sooner leave a child alone with a pack of matches than I would with YouTube

For yourself, I'd recommend NewPipe, it's how YouTube should be watched and it's the safest option of a "cracked YouTube," because it's open source.

I have been using android since the release of its first development kit and have a symbiotic relationship with the OS, where it keeps getting worse because of external pressures and I keep paying into it because of internal pressures.

Oh I use Vanced, I find it aesthetically pleasing and very simplistic, there's also the kids version which is exactly the same as YouTube Kids but no ads. Oh yes, I remember Elsagate...that was pretty ******up. My current gripe is is toy play and toy reviews that have Bible verses tagged on to the end of the vids.

Vanced isn't too bad, but if you're using your real email just make sure to check haveibeenpwned.com and opt for the "notify me," feature.

My sentiments exactly; I can't bear bringing religion into toy videos either and I'm a rather conservative Christian. I seen one video where a lady was playing with a toy "glitter" turd and then after 5 minutes of fondling it, there comes a Bible verse lol.

I pity any religious parent that would trust an individual to entertain their children purely based on that individual's self professed religious beliefs.
