I realise it's an open question but which is best the 10 inch or 8 inch?

It's not the size that matters, it depends how you use it
Adam28414/07/2019 14:05

could you explain why? im interested in the 10

FireHD 10: FireOS based on Android Lollipop, which is Android 5. Android 10 is nearly upon us! It can't do split screen apps because Android 5.0 doesn't support it. Even on this ancient OS it's extremely laggy, badly performing. Even debloated wth the play store it's rubbish. I had a 2013 iPad Air before this, that was a way better tablet than this, no comparison.

I don't use the Fire HD 10 anymore as I'd rather use my phone than boot up the Fire and sigh at the hopeless horrendous painful user experience.

I really haven't even begun to state how utterly crap the Fire HD 10 is. I paid £119 over a year ago. Every single £1 spent was wasted. I would sell it but I don't want clowns coming round to my house. I'm scared of clowns.
Bought one a couple of months ago...it's a big improvement on an old Fire 7 I was using.

I mainly surf and play a few simple games on mine - for which it's perfect. I use a desktop for anything more complicated.

For £45 it's brilliant for simple stuff. Took 5 minutes to install the 'play' store, and I just put all the amazon gumpf into one folder and ignore it. The ads on the lock screen don't bother me at all - one swipe and they're gone.

For the money I can't complain - even the battery seems pretty good.

The Fire HD 10 Tablet, 1080p Full HD Display, 32 GB is just £10 more minus the 'special offer' but fair enough.

Are these expandable memory and thus, does it make a difference which one you choose in the 8” range?

Any advantage of this over an iPad?
Is this part of the Amazon Prime Day deals or we can expect better prices?

At £50 more is the extra 2" worth it

I have both. I think the 10 is more powerful, but the 8 is just the right size for most uses, and thus gets used more. I would recommend the 8 (and hack it, to install the Google Play store :p)

It's funny every Amazon tablet or kindle I've bought with Special Offers, I've went on the live chat, asked for it to be turned off and the representative just does it as a complimentary thing. Worth trying first before paying £10 extra to remove?
Hi are these any good I just want it for browsing Netflix YouTube ect

I don't really understand what this represents? I have a 2017 Amazon Fire 7" tablet. Still, the effort made is appreciated just the same.
Hi are these only for prime members?
Thanks been waiting for kids edition to drop. Purchased

Yes, worth getting a 30 day free trial if you don't have Prime

This is a Prime day offer as far as am aware as says it ends 16th July. Probably worth seeing if there are any further credit deals tomorrow which could be used to lower the overall cost of this or other Amazon purchases.

Thank you.
Incredibly easy to install the 'proper' Play store on it, makes it excellent for the price.
Has anyone experienced the kids edition tablets ? Is it worth the extra £?
These any good? (Specifically for reading, or is there better and or cheaper options)

I have the Fire HD 10, it's utter crap, most regretful tech purchase I've made in a long time.

The one with special offers has adverts on the lock screen - there are guides to turn off the ads on XDA and on this thread, by @paulbuk

I'd totally agree with everything said here I bought the 8" HD and it's so slow and full of bloatware.
Would never buy another amazon tablet personally.
shotatdawn14/07/2019 12:18

I realise it's an open question but which is best the 10 inch or 8 inch?

Better resolution, way better processor + more RAM on fire 10. The question is whether these advantages are worth the extra cash for you.
£5 lower than last years Prime Day/Black Friday price. The 10 is a brilliant device for watching video. Sure, it’s no iPad but for £95 I think it’s a bargain.
And don’t pay more for the 64gb, just stick in a microSD if you need more storage.
The problem with these tablets is the awful RAM. Yes these are cheap and cheerful, but phones and tablets should be on 6 to 8gb of RAM.
🐏 🐏 🐏 🐏 🐏 🐏 / 🐏 🐏
In this day and age its mad to make slow laggy machines. Android gets slower as it is. This is just a kick in the crotch from the get go.
I set up a fire 7 last night my wife won in a raffle a year or so ago.
I personally would not recommend a fire product from that. Very poor effort all round. Put the money towards something a little better is my advice.
Flappybunnyman14/07/2019 13:37

Has anyone experienced the kids edition tablets ? Is it worth the extra £?

I have for my 4, now 5, year old. It hasn't broken, hasn't frustrated her, still has good battery life and having a wide filtered range of apps and videos, etc is brilliant. Definitely got our money's worth. Yeah, you could buy another tablet, a bumper case and play with safety settings but this just worked fine out of the box.

It also earned it's keep when my prime account was hacked. All my other devices were locked out as the hacker changed my password. The Fire tablet stayed logged in and gave me fraudulent order notifications!
eelvis14/07/2019 13:43

2 ram? 2010

This, I'd even rather have a 720p screen if I could have 3+GB of RAM instead
Watched a few youtube videos of these and they look awfully slow. I was planning to replace an old ipad2 that the kids use but it looks like a downgrade.
