True and I bought it for my 2.5 yrs old girl due to below as she already broke 1.
full-featured 8" tablet, with a pink kid-proof case (without kick-stand), parental controls, 2-year worry-free guarantee and 1 year of Fire for Kids Unlimited with apps, games and videos.
Not a toy but an 8" tablet with HD display, 32 GB storage and up to 10 hours of battery life.
If it breaks, return it and we'll replace it for free with our 2-year worry-free guarantee.
Includes a 1-year subscription to Fire for Kids Unlimited giving kids access to thousands of popular apps, games, videos, books and Audible audiobooks, including content from Disney, Nickelodeon and Sesame Street.

It is exactly the same as ops post.. However as mentioned above it does come with a bit of extra which is perfect for my kids
It looks to be the same tablet, I bought the normal Fire, then ended up buying the case for the kids so that it protects it when I dump it in my bag.

The only problem I have had with the Fire 8 is that after 3 years the battery seems suspect. it used to hold a charge when the screen was off, but now seems to drain as though it is on.

Same happened with my previous one.. It suggest tablet is on charge and it doesnt charge.. In one hour of charging it charges only 1 percent.. So I was waiting for the price to be reduced due to new one coming in june. It wasnt easy though to keep saying my little one her tablet is coming

Ye I know its same tablet but I was confused with the poster that said 'that extra ram will help to' on your link, I didn't get it. ;-) our first kids one stopped working after 2.5 years, didn't want to pay full price for another so I asked around my friends to see if they had the targeted amazon deal last month 16gb for £26 or 32 for £38 so snapped one up then.

Don't forget if you want this to work and look like a normal tablet in operation without all the amazon stuff the new amazon fire toolbox 7.1 is available that will remove all the Gubbins.

Can you trade in older models of Fire tablets against a newer model?

I remember there used to be incentives to upgrade or trade in when you got in touch via chat but I remember seeing on here that there was specific invites to an upgrade scheme.

I see, thanks! So it is better if you get it for kids. I had the same experience, my kids smashed their old ones, but what I tend to d9 is buy cheap used Android tablets from eBay.

Mine does charge, it's just when in "standby" the battery drains quickly. I'm sure I used to be able to leave it like that for quite a while between needing to charge. I think I paid a little under £50 for it in a sale a while ago. Just annoying about the battery as otherwise is still fine. I only really use it for the Kindle app.

Is the case removable, or have they fixed it on? Sorry to ask
Decent tablets to be fair if you wish to consume media, sluggish for browsing through.

Considering upgrading my kids tablets to the new 8" models particularly for the USB C connection... I lost count the number of mangled micro USB cables in my house.
Is the kids edition not the same, and you get the bumper case, the 2 year insurance and the 1 year subscription for Fire For Kids Unlimited on the same box, same price? amazon.co.uk/gp/…c=1

Looks like you can unlock the bootloader on this …Looks like you can unlock the bootloader on this devicehttps://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/orig-development/unlock-fire-hd-8-2018-karnak-amonet-3-t3963496Which means you can install Lineage OS 16https://forum.xda-developers.com/hd8-hd10/orig-development/rom-lineage-16-0-t3981685The unlocking process does look complex though

Only if it is running firmware lower than 6.3.1.2. Otherwise you need to open up the tablet.

I read that the tablet should be on that firmware out of the box.

Not sure how true that it though

I got the case and put the normal kindle in it, it is quite a tight fit, so not easily removed.
I missed this deal - any ideas when the next sale is likely to be?
