How much is it to remove ads please?
    Avatar
Amazon charge £10, but they only appear when waking up the tablet, not when its in use. I phoned Amazon and said I didn't realise it had ads and they removed them free. Easy to live with them though.

Easy to put downloaded films on?

IF you install something like ES File Manager/ES File Explorer on it first, then yes.

    But if NOT, then it's a 50/50 ...

O say 50/50, because FireOS has a certain 'feel' to it, that's arguably not necessarily for everyone.

    Etc etc etc etc etc.

    Note to self:

ES File Manager/ES File Explorer, can be either downloaded directly, via Amazon's own App Store, and/or, via third-party APK site's on the Internet.

Something to bare in mind, IF going at it Vai the APK route though, is this, because of the way Amazon does it's custom version of Android (aka FireOS), the LATEST version of ES File Manager/ES File Explorer (via one of the APK site's, etc), may NOT necessarily be compatible with whatever version of FireOS on this Amazon Fire tablet, or whatever? - unfortunately. :-(

So, an earlier 'variant', of ES File Manager/ES File Explorer APK is therefore advised. :-)

Possibly an APK version of ES File Manager/ES File Explorer going back to 2018? (preferable), or a version going back to as late as 2019, instead, or whatever? (as the very LATEST).

Until such time as you know any different, etc?, I'd stick with my above recommendation's, etc?. :-)

    Note to self 2:

    m.apkpure.com/es-…pop

    es-file-explorer.en.uptodown.com/and…oid

Different flavours of my earlier mentioned 'variants' can be navigated through, via my immediate above 2 link's, etc. :-D

    I hope that helps?

Is this good enough for Roblox? Want to get my own Tablet back from the kids
    Avatar
Yeah it works great for Roblox

Amazon will remove the ads for free but you might have to have a few goes on live chat, depends who you get. they removed the ads on my kindle for free
    Avatar
Why did they do it for you?

Fire ToolBox is great to remove the ads and bloatware, it's not as good as a year ago when I got myself an Fire HD 10 but it's still worth doing to install Google Play, remove the ads and a bit of bloatware if you are willing to take ten minutes to do so.

Never had a tablet. If this can be jailbroken this should be adequate for Youtube, Netflix, Web Browser, EReader and Music light use
    Avatar
My wife watches You Tube, films, Sky TV etc on hers with no issues. Nice tablet and a bargain at £34.99. However I have read its not superfast for gaming but we don't need that.

These things are unbearable to use and getting more difficult to debloat. Have used mine for about an hour in total since I purchased it 6 months ago. I will just use it for travel/netflix player.
    Avatar
If you have a 2020/2021 there's a good chance you can debloat it with firetoolbox

Would I be able to plug this into a laptop as a second monitor?
    Avatar
It has no HDMI 'OUT', unfortunately? :-(

    So no, sorry. :-(

    Hmmmmmmmmmm.
  11. Avatar
I need an E reader, was going to get a Kindle which is a lot more expensive. Will this work just as well? Can you use "Send to Kindle " with it? (edited)
    Avatar
    Correct - a LOT more expensive! :-(

And, yes - yes it can. :-D

Of the 2 Kindle tablet's I've previously purchased in the past - Kindle 8 (64GB), & Kindle 10 (64GB), I've got my Kindle e-book library linked DIRECTLY to it too. :-)

Baring in mind though, that both were purchased around the 2018 mark, etc, and I've that I've NOT made use of my Kindle e-book's, fully yet, or whatever, is irrelevant.

Because the reality is, it's linked to my Amazon Fire tablet's for LIFE!

    Hehehehehehe.

    So ...

Hopefully that'll help alleviate your fears/reservation's a wee bit, or something?. ;-)

    Yep!.

The Ads are no issue whatsoever - one swipe when waking the tablet up and they're gone for the whole use session.

I recently bought the 2020 version and the 2022 version!
I followed these instructions for getting the Play Store working:
How to Install the Google Play Store on an Amazon Fire Tablet (howtogeek.com)

This worked on the 2020 version, but not the 2022 version. It seems there are some issues with the new version.

I know I can get Netflix from the Amazon store, but tried through the Play Store - and couldn't even find the app!
Same for Disney+. I found a link to the Netflix app and it says: "This app is no longer compatible with your device".

Not that happy with my purchases of these tablets.
    Avatar
Use the Fire Toolbox, it offers Netflix and the Disney+ app with 1 click. It also offers easy Google Play installation as well as a whole host of other perks.

Amazing value. I love reading Kindle books on mine.
    Avatar
How does the quality compare to a dedicatted kindle reader?
  16. Avatar
Any deals on older versions of the fire HD 10. Not sure how you find the older versions

Very much a consumption device (watching videos or reading). Even using the browser is painful at times. Google play store or otherwise.
  18. Avatar
Anyone know how long this 'limited' price is for?
    Avatar
Would like to know this too?

    Thanx.
  19. Avatar
Be aware that even if you can install Google Play, a lot of apps won't function fully, i couldn't get notifications in any of the apps i wanted to use and ended up selling mine.
  20. Avatar
A lot of heat seeing as the 2022 version was this price just weeks ago
    Avatar
Have you got a link to that please?
  21. Avatar
You may able to use fire toolbox on this model, which will give you a more stock android experience and remove ads, plus at least hide the Amazon bloat.
  22. Avatar
I found the outcome from the toolbox a bit buggy & changed it back.

I should add mine is the 10HD (edited)
    Avatar
    same.
sideloaded google play services and this does everything I need. a decent travel companion for music, books and video.
  23. Avatar
+1 for "amazon are quite happy to remove the ads if you just ask them" may depend on who you talk to, but have done this twice now by saying that I purchased it for a child and didn't realise there would be ads.
  24. Avatar
Cheers OP. Perfect present for my mother whose tablet has died. All she’ll use it for is solitaire and shopping so a powerhouse isn’t needed.
  25. Avatar
Can you get TikTok on this please?
    Avatar
    Yes, without sideloading.
  26. Avatar
Youtube and roblox work on it?
  27. Avatar
I got the 2022 version in the black friday deal but returned it. These devices are very slow with just 2GB of RAM and the screen is low resolution. If you want a very basic tablet and are willing to wait while it loads apps, then it should suit you just fine.
    Avatar
    Ohhhhhhhhhh, the IRONY!! :-(

    Hehehehehehehe.
  28. Avatar
Brilliant tablets, cannot be touched for the money, well worth the £35 and arguably currently better than the 2022 version for certain reasons.

Don't know how people can use this in these times, I have a 4gb samsung and its driving me crazy how slow it is but I suppose it depends on what your used to, I think less than 6gb is not worth it unless just for reading and entertainment
    Avatar
You pretty much answered your own question in your last sentence. Very few people are power users for tablets.

    I’ll “with ads” ye…

can we check our emails on that ?

Yes, you can check emails on almost any browser

Is there much difference between this and the 2022 release? The basic specs look exactly the same!
