One has "nexus" engraved on the back, and one doesn't?
Ordered one for stepson for his Brithday, he will trash it but, at this price, I'm not too bothered - his loss! lol

Nexus 7 is much better.
Always mixed feedback on these. Some say they are great, others say they are very limited for apps as you can't get full Google Play store.

Can highly recommend the Lenova Yoga tablets, although they do cost more.
Make sure you select 'without special offers'. They usually charge £10 more but for some reason it's the same price.

This removes offers from the lock screen.

I've had a few of these and have changed them to run Android. If you don't do a system update when you get the tablet, it's very easy to do.
Are these any good for downloading and watching movies??, I wanted something relatively cheap as would be for on hols etc.
They are great for downloading videos from Amazon prime. Easy enough with a google to put play store on

I bought one last month with the prime now deal. Had play store downloaded on it and updated, running fine in about 10 mins total. Very good small tablet for the price.

Screen is affected by glare quite a bit. I know you can buy screen protectors that have a matte effect to stop glare for a few quid.

Only the black seems to be available without the adverts, anyone know if the ones from Argos or John Lewis have the adverts or not?
How long is the battery life?
how does this compare to the fire kids tablet?
Managed to pick one up from Argos. Mine has 5.3.1.0 software version on it so I used Kingroot and flashed an AOSP Custom ROM called Fire Nexus rom (from XDA).

Not had much of a chance to test the ROM but it looks much better then the stock Amazon OS
as far as I know it's identical to the fire kids tablet, except the kids tablet comes with a case and a replacement warranty for accidental damages for the first six months or a year I believe.

It's the same except the kids tablet has the cover with 16GB and a year of Fire for Kids. If you're on amazon prime it works out £13 cheaper to buy the 16GB standard version and a case for £64.98, then sign up to Fire for Kids unlimted at £1.99 per month with a month free trial. Total of £86.87 for the first year, but as above comment points out you don't get the same level of warranty.

yeah, i did some comparisons after i posted this yesterday, and it would seem the nexus 7 (2013) is still as good or if not better spec than the fire tab.

was looking for something that would be a bit of an upgrade for my gf's aging N7. won't bother with this one...
Bought one to replace aged tablet with cracked screen.

Purely to be used as a Jukebox in association with my Sonos & Spotify.
