Gonna get smokin' in here. All aboard the hot train.

With Kodi this is a no brainer!

Been holding out for ages for this to be £20 again. Going to whack Kodi on it and should be job done.
How about the voice remote fire stick and 4k box? Thinking of upgrading
Well, I lost the remote to my Fire Stick a few days ago. If a new unit is only £5 more than the remote, I guess I'll be buying a new one and giving away my current one to a friend.
Clicked the link and saw this "You purchased this item on 15 Jul 2015". Doesn't time fly!! I paid 19 quid then.

LOL 24th March 2015 for me, like a mug i paid full price
I thought there was a subsequent version of the Fire TV Stick with 4k support? What's different in the newer ones?

Edit: Research indicates there is only one version, it's the Fire TV box that has 4k support. I think you can find 4k videos while searching on the stick, but can't play them.

Doubt that, unless you have 50 accounts with prime active.

In general but with some exceptions, a dedicated S905 media box could offer more features and flexibility than Amazon's stick and start from £19.35 delivered ex-UK. Regardless, the Amazon Stick's a good offer price for what it is and will probably satisfy most users' requirements and expectations (including return options), unless you want the most capable Kodi player, in which case back to S905 / S905X (or other similarly capable device).

With lightening deals it's 1 per customer, this may be different but I doubt it

If you check the already active deals it's 1 per customer

Are there any cheap boxes with 50hz and refresh rate switching support (the stick seemingly doesn't deal with it properly)?

Thanks
Can i ask you all something probably really basic?

My mates have droid boxes and watch all the footy on them for free, will this do the same job once I get help loading Kodi onto it?

I have smart tv's and a bt box for sport - can these features be replaced by this stick? if not what would i miss?

thank you in advance

you can download an app to use your phone as a remote apparently.
Do you think any of the shops will price match the fire stick as I don't have an amazon prime account, but I would like to try a fire stick.
Were the Firesticks Lightning deals last year?

a DROID box will have kodi on. so once you load kodi on the firestick it will do the same thing as that box.
No mention of this being a lightening deal, unless im being blind. Deal will probably be running all day tomorrow. Im sure that how it was last year.

What are the features and flexibility that makes this a better deal than the firestick? I'm looking to say something up for my Mother, ideally with both Netflix and Kodi. At the moment and has to connect her laptop, not a huge issue but a dedicated unit with a remote would be handy.

Yep same here. I don't mind a 99p rise so I can use the same benefits on my bedroom tv without constantly having to remember to unplug and move it.
Last year I was an early buyer and got next day shipping but remember later in the day those orders had to wait for stock as I'm sure they just got swamped for sticks and so there was a day or 2 delay.

The only thing you won't get with any of these boxes is Netflix in HD or higher resolution. Netflix serves up only a 480p stream to any box that's not in their list of pre-approved boxes/ systems e.g. Roku boxes as well as TVs with in-built Roku hardware.
The Amazon Fire devices including the stick are also all approved. Shame as the S905's can go upto 4K.

When you say play games on it.

Can you bluetooth a controller and play away?

Emulators work?
Does anyone know if there is any way to get Sky go on the firestick? Or even on an android box (mxq)?

android box will have USB ports to play files, Digital Audio Out, SD card slot, ability to hard wire Internet via ethernet, less restrictions on apps you can install. but for kodi and Netflix you would be OK with this.
